jeremey, hows the lag on the 57 trim?? remember we talked about 50trim vs 57trim.....you can make more power on a 57 but spool is better on a 50, im torn between these two turbos, a ride in your car might help me make up my mind. :goodjob:

I have no idea what rpm I started to pull out. Jeremy got to brake boost and honk. My datalog shows I brake-boosted 'bout 6psi on both runs... it's lot more difficult to BB on a larger turbo. On those runs and the others, I couldn't hear Jeremy honk so I tried to watch him go and go right afterwards.

I asked if I could honk and he said "oh hell no"... hehe =]

Looks like everytime J shifted his car backed down a little bit, and your car was still in gear pulling... Whenever (if ever) i pull the motor out my car i want to do a complete build and 2.2L stroker kit good for atleast 8500rpm stock redline is about, 7100-7200...Those gears make a big differnce on the highway

Everytime I was able to BB to a good psi he would not go, so the runs we had I was BBing at 8psi.

You need a diffrent turbo and manifold bad, I know you have to work with what you got, but with a diffrent setup you could be spooling 500-600rpms faster and making way more power.

Dont get me wrong I'm not talking shit. Youre making good power for your setup, but you can definately make more.

No, that was 18-19psi on pump. Race gas is expensive and I knew I was ganna be buying about 10gal for import showdown. There was a little c16 left in the tank from when it was tuned but pu alot of pump in there and the mixture was not good enough to bump up the boost.

I will be upgrading to a peak boost mani and gt3076 in a few months and a meth kit, but until than I will have to deal with this setup

If your running 264 step 1 cams (I think thats what your running)

You should get some nasty cams too.


the 3076 will get you more power on pump gas than you are currently making on race gas. and it will spool quicker.

My .02 cents......

From what I am hearing about your setup you are making good power but very laggy. I will take a wild guess at this but I am going to say that your probably making about 390-400rwhp on the C16 at mid 20lb boost?

So if you were on pump gas running 18-19psi then I would guess around 350-360rwhp?

Seems Charles has a fast EVO but not as mind blowing fast as everyone on here makes it out to be! Here is why I say this:

I think Jeremy with his setup and I could better guess this if I knew what kindof intake manifold he had but if he is running an aftermarket manifold (probably is b/c all top mount turbo SR20 guys do :P) he is lacking some strong tq and thats why he falls off so much at a certain speed. The SR is making high hp but little to no tq in comparison. If I am right on this then I would say with that cam and turbo choice you aren't making more than 200rwhp/200rwtq at 5000RPM with a 7500 rev limiter? Correct me if I am wrong.

Now on my old setup with a little turbo(T25 exh flange) and stock manifold I was making better hp/tq then his setup is- again taking a wild guess.

So jeremy what I am trying to say is you dont necessarily need more HP but faster spool(which you already know) and more TQ to keep you in the power when you shift. If you continue with this high HP mentatility then you will most likely be beaten once again! ;)


Charles- nice EVO as I told you at the Varsity, but sorry to say my 240 and my Z on bottle were where your car is today. And if I hadnt sold the Z before this post I would be happy to line up with you from a roll like this to end your winning streak.

My first tune made 278whp at 10psi and 375 at 18psi and 409whp at 23psi. I have been retuned since than because the first one was cut short because of my FPR. It is fixed and i am making more power now.

Let me take this a step further by saying your car really wasnt all that, lets be real you had a fully built bottom end, spent thousands and you never broke 400whp and never ran 11's. If i had a built bottom I wouldnt be running 12's and be in the 300's. The reason why this thread took a turn is not because I dont like marshall, he seems ok when i met him, but because his intent was not to ask questions because if you read is post he would be willing to bet money that he already knows the answers. He wants to bash my set up because I didnt get the turbo he got. I stated in this thread that I now my turbo isnt the best and is laggy and a better manifold is needed. I have stated the cons of my setup before you even posted. Then you come on here and bash me to make yourself look good. What was the point of your initial post besides stating in a round about way that your car is better than mine. It was not to ask questions because you already knew the answers to them.

Fair enough. dont worry, I drove a riced out civic back then to, so is ok.

This because of the turbo I running. Between shifts the car would drop back down to 0psi and have to respool the turbo. Thats a good 2sec without the car pulling while his car was still pulling. I wish I had anti-lag and NLS.

I am using profec b and tial 38mm wastegate. 63 ar on the exhaust side. I am running a log manifold right now but I just put my hands on a peak boost mani. that I gonna try to get this weekend.
