folks are smart these days. what there doing is getting peoples vin number, and sliding a crocked locksmith a couple hundred dollars or some drugs and getting a key made, and simply going to peoples car and driving off with it. thats how they got one of my cars..

These cars arent easy to steal, plus they come with immobilizers, If you dont have the exact key made for the car not some bullshit locksmith can make this key. If you dont have the right key or you hot wire it. it only runs for 20 seconds and dies.

On older cars yes cover the vin but on newer cars you have an immobilizer chip in them that has to be coded to the car. If it is not coded to the car the car will not start.

It's NOT Will's Car, It's My car The Car does have an immobilizer, No broken Glass on the floor, nothing. It WAS NOT REPOED!!! and if the case was true that someone is retaliating against will, Everyone knows that it's not WILL's CAR! so i hope for their sake that is not the case, and it is not a JOKE to steal people's Shit. People work VERY hard to get where they are. All it takes is a jealous mother fucker to ruin it and destroy what someone's built for such a long time...

That is just nuts. Another evo I know of had their car broken into and the seats and shiftknob taken just earlier this morning. It sucks that people will steal from another hard working joe. On 2000 and earlier hondas I agree but doesn't the EVO have a coded key? Can't just make a key for it and drive off since the key has to be programmed to the car.
It has a coded key, but if the ECU is switched out then someone can just hold the key coded for that ECU near the ignition and put the copied key into the ignition and the car will start.

Um, sorry if i missed something, but if you had the key coded to that ecu, why would you need the 2nd key to start it instead of just using the coded one. im confused as fuck.

Did you see any noticeable marks on the ground when it was stolen? Skid marks, scrapes that would have been left by chains/jacks, anything? I ask because a few years ago a friend's del Sol got stolen, and the way they got it was they jacked it up in the center (there's a solid spot on the radiator support you can jack from), slid a 2 wheel dolly under it, then cut the rear brake lines so the e-Brake was no longer a factor.

Good luck getting her back!

my buddy got rear ended in chicago and they paid for his bent Dinan Exhaust, CF Trunk Lid, OEM LTW Wing(1600 Dollars) and Rieger rear under spoiler...
so unless you have hack/crap/shitty insurance it is covered... as long as you dont have their bargain liability just enough to get you buy... oh and you need receipts which is why you keep them...

Neither, it was taken from in front of my house. At this point I'm ready to give up and let the police handle it... I just figured i'd put the word out online to see if anyone might have seen something but i guess everything happens for a reason.

On 2000 and earlier hondas I agree but doesn't the EVO have a coded key? Can't just make a key for it and drive off since the key has to be programmed to the car.

Only the Evolution 8's are shown to have transponder keys. That doesnt mean a key can't be cut. A cut ket can still unlock the doors, free up the steering lock and turn the ignition on...Just won't start and run the vehicle. Depending on the programming procedure (scan tool) someone can also program a key. I am not sure with mitsu's if you need a working key present to learn in another key. None the less, sorry about your car. I hope you catch the bastards!!!
