I live with Parents, at Home, and for FREE. Well at least for the next 3 months. After those three months of well planned saving...I am moving my fiancee, my daughter, and myself in a nice and cozy little 2 story, 2,900 square foot, 3 bedroom, gameroom, den, family, nook, dining, living, kitchen, 2 car garage, WITH a covered patio....that only costs $190k brand new :). Then after that comes the new car...depending on bills and such it will be either an 07 G35c or an older year like 05-06, but we will see.

Hell far from it man...just want to give my fiancee and my daughter someplace nice to live in and something nice to be driven in. PS it helps to work with friends that drive trucks so I don't pay for gas to go to work. But those plans are all according to how much I will have saved up in 4-5 months...so far I have 14k saved...I am hoping to have about 20-25 saved so I can put a little down on the house and the rest for mortgage and bills every month.

I went to a "convention" if thats what one wants to call it (not more than 20-30 people), but it was about owning houses and how people that pay into principle to pay their house off will only lose in the end because you never get back the money that you put into a house...they say the best thing is to pay interest only and have money to save.

ShooterMcGavin
05-21-2006, 12:32 AM
^^^interesting, what kinda convention was this? because i'm interested the principles they're teaching (as i am one of those ppl that pay as much as i can towards principal due to the type of mortgage i have, 3/1 ARM).

WLG, sloRSX went to a BOP I'm guessing. I have a few friends that do it. it's good money, that's for sure. If you want some more info, PM me and I'll help how I can.

it was a little dinner/convention thing that was happening around my house (free provinos) so we went to get free dinner but ended up learning something. The guy basically said that they had their house pad off and had a huge fire lost the house and never got all of it back. So he basically put it where if you put in so much money into it your not going to get it all back...take for instance your house is 200k and over however many years you pay out more than 200k to own that house but what can you sell the house for? not more than houses in your area are worth. SO I see no sense in paying so much into a house when you will never get what you paid for back...hell you wont ever break even either. But its hard to find a mortgage company that does interest only payments...most only do like 1-5 years of interest only. its hard to find a 30 year interest only.

You'll never find anyone to fund a 30 year interest only, but what you would want to do is re-fi after your interest only period is up with another interest only loan and continue to do that until you decide to sell the house or pay it off.

Ohh yea I know...the builder that I am thinking of buying a house with, KB Homes, has a 5 year interest only for new houses. I mean its not TOO much of a difference between regular payments and interest only, but for the ones who make a certain amount of money a month it is good to save a couple hundred on a mortgage.

cost of living up there is ridiculous. i dont know how someone in college could make it without some type of help. most people around here pay 250-400/month in rent depending on how nice of a place they are living. but that is split between roomates, so something like 750-1200 a month i guess for a 3 br house.
