What is it?

Mine would be a place right down the street from my house, the owner has it for sale for $879,000 but the house is not what catches my attention. The property has a half mile landing strip and 3 storage garages for airplanes.. throw a dyno in one of those with a couple of lifts and basically I would have a mini Top Gear test track in my back yard, damn I'm going to buy that place one day.

From tuscany villas to austrian castles to downtown modern industrial lofts i'm in love with buildings....but they all must have a place to play with cars and maybe even a place to sleep and eat

My pick for a dream house of the year, now 2nd year running, is the Marietta Street Fire Station... 5,000+ sq. feet with a 2 story entrance/"foyer" for fabrication and place to play with cars. Location is directly behind Ga. Tech and convenient to everywhere downtown....may have to reinforce the roof before putting up a fullsize courtyard and patio area :-)

$1.3 million for it including the buildings on either side of it and a gravel lot. Tax records show the firestation and the land it sits on appraised for $110,000. :2up:

2800' landing strip that is privately owned with no other houses around.. not paved but trust me I wouldnt buy the property without enough money to pave the whole thing and then some.. although I imagine paving would be crazy expensive, we're dreaming though so it dont matter!

WANT SOME HEAD???Exactlyyy....The living area is 2 stories in the back, all new hardwood floors, etc. I'd have the front spotless, either polished acid stained concrete or tile with killer lighting....only have the head ringing flourescents around the outside over the stainless workbenches. With just the right mount of money i could design and build an insanely perfect shop/residence.

i'm w/ speedminded... i want a renovated loft, old building 1950s or older, w/ atleast a garage/loading dock so i can pull my cars in the bottom floor then live on the top floors. i would love to have one that is 3-6 storys so i could turn the un used space into rental property :goodjob:

-huge open rooms
-exposed beams/ducts
-old exteriors
-modern interiors
-tons of texture steel, brick, concrete, etc
-roof top access for sun deck

i've seen way better but here is an example, i love that firehouse above by the way... that is perfect :D

i've seen way better but here is an example, i love that firehouse above by the way... that is perfect :DI started driving around downtown atlanta when i was 18, for hours and hours until 3 or 4am...back when gas was like $0.99 a gallon  ...just wandering around looking for old buildings, factories, railroad depot's etc. Been obsessed with owning one since but settled for a house w/ shop after not finding anything i liked under a few $100k.

Almost bought a 4k square foot building in Conyers though (full kitchen and bathroom, several offices that could be converted to living area then had a 2,500-3k sq. foot air conditioned shop area) . Only $80k but was working in Suwanee at the time and that commute would have sucked goat balls. Would have made a killer spot for parties, no houses around to disturb, loading dock and parking area out back, etc. oh well...on day.

Few random pics i just came across...

i like this thread i was always into houses when i was like 10 and watching this old house ..
i use to draw floor plans and design and all that ..
but my dream house would be 100 acres ..
big house with big garage and big backyard ..
i like houses that are simple and clean and white & beige ..
if i had a scanner i would scan my works and show you guys ..
but hmmm how much would a 100 acre land cost in GA ??
anyone know ?? is there a way where i can like finance a land ..

BABY J

Yeah you can... but 100 acres is tough to finance for strictly residential. An investor would do it for a developer who wants to develop it for business (they have better chances of getting their money back)... but for residential... WHOO!

Our farm in south ga is only like 1400 an acre if its not farmable. The decent farm land is around $3000 an acre. Since we own 750 it is a bitch to maintain every year!!!! Esp. when your main residence is 3.5 hours away!

putting down black top would go for around $2 a square foot. the runway would be at least 30' wide 2800' long would be about $168,000 but i would work with u on that. when u hit the lotto let me know.

There is a badass house in Philly next to my buddies place, it is not that big but the walls are 2 foot thick concret, the roof is all deck with two hot tubs and he has two of those underground car elevators with grass on the top so you can't see it. He drives 2 Subaru Outbacks. If he sold it he could probably get $3.5 million easy. I have been in it a few times, the inside is nice as hell and he said the concrete being so thick helps with heating and cooling bills, also it could probably take a fucking howitzer round. There is a spiral staircase going to the roof/party deck ( oh it has a wet bar up there too) If I won the lotto I would def look into buying or recreating that place.

i would build my own house. it would be far enough out of the city i could have 50+ [100+better]acres...south ga where im at wouldnt be too unrealistic price wise. build a nice house that nobody can see from the road, and have no idea how nice or big it is. would have a good sized bond/lake on it for fishing, maybe boating purposes. beside that my house would just be nice and fresh.

maybe this one...but i would like for it to sit further from the road
