so as some of you are aware, I had an accident in my 1989 Chrysler Conquest - the awesome thing is the entire drivetrain ( engine, tranny, suspension and all aftermarket components ) survived with little to no damage :) So I thought I'd entertain you guys on the progress of my car as we actually save it as well as another Starion ( Conquest + Starion = Starquest - for future reference - they're the same car ) - modifications on the black wrecked car are as follows:
.040 block - 8:1 Wiseco Forged Pistons - Shot peened rods - recut and hardened crank .010 - Full rotating assmb. balance - sealed power high volume oil pump - Multi layer steel head gasket - Marnal n/jv head, ported and polished with oem valves , schneider hd valve springs - mechanical rocker arms - Tim C. Screamin' Banshee cam INT: 292° Seat-To-Seat .454 Lift EXH: 280° Seat-To-Seat .454 Lift Lobe Center Separation 111.5° Intake lobe is degreed 107. 2500 - 6500rpm - EGR removed - Krank Vents - 52mm Throttle Body matched to intake - 800cc & 1080 cc injectors - Walbro 255l Fuel pump - Trilogy Turbos Big 16G - intercooler hard pipes - 1g dsm blow off valve - 1g dsm mas w/ k&n - 2.5" from turbo back with flex down pipe and dynomax ultra flow muffler - new starter alternator - battery in trunk - Tokiko Struts - Eibach springs - stedebani poly bushings , caster camber plates, strut tower connectors - FIS Short Throw shifter - Fidanza albumin flywheel - Center force dual friction clutch - New pads and rotors at all 4 - no abs - Bridgestone Poetnza tires 245/45R-16 on 9" Rears, 225/50R-16 on 8" fronts - Sony MP3 cd , 4 6x9s (two doors, two rear hatch) 8" subwoofer, two amps.
Stage 1 - get the wrecked car down to Macon to the "guru" a 59 y/o man who owns 3 of these. Labor charges are pretty much free, being that the costs are any left over parts from either cars after the swap ( such as stock suspension and tranny and such - not complaining for a free swap )

held up pretty good for flipping and hitting a tree :D
Stage 2 - nearly 2 months after the accident, I finally found an affordable shell of sorts in good condition for a VERY good price in the SE region - $1000, flat, including a spare block and a complete engine gasket kit

car has a overheating problem ( probably clogged radiator ) which resulted in a blown head gasket... head might be warped, but finding another head or fixing it is easy :) might just fix it to get it up and going for awhile before the swap ( use the head gasket in the kit, since the black one will actually need an aftermarket gasket because of the performance mods )
stay tuned for its arrival, and then for next weekend, when we plan on taking out the engines and tranny's and suspensions :idb:
Operation Save'A'Quest is officialy underway :D

Wow I can't beleave I've never heard of these cars till just recently, Man I like 'em
haha dont worry, I never heard of them till about a year and a half ago - I actually saw one drive by while I was in the school bus lane, and it just slowly came down and I literally said to myself "what the hell is that..." -spots a mitsu emblem- "mitsubishi?!" -drives by and looks at name- "starion? the hell is that... " -gets home and googles it, 2 months later, test driving one.... 6 months later, purchases one, 5 months later, flips it, 2 months later, purchases another- :D
haha David, yea, both our cars are ghetto - the "new" one is missing its lower airdam ( which isnt surprising, those things get obliterated so easily lol )

the black one runs wierd under hard boost, and they have both been sitting for about two years now... I almost bought them in 04 and 05, i wanted to so bad, i just am sure that by now even the black one that runs is going to need a good run through to be right again. Not that they wouldn't be good project cars, but you better have time on your side!
Oh and nice shell man, im glad to see that after the wreck you kept your car and made another one, starions and conquests are the shit!

I swear to god there will be a 500 hp rwd mighty max 4g63 converted quest with a stock intercooler. I know it fits into the bumper nice, but crap they're not that big.

btw just FYI you posted a pic of a Ford lol
and yea, I'm not a DSM - I even created my own little story
Once upon a time, back before when Mr. Mitsubishi and Mother Mopar were married and had their last names switched to DSM, they were dating. Being young and in love, well, they just fucked the brains out of each other. One day the condom broke on Mr. Mitsubishi, and some messed up semen spooled their way into Mother Mopar. 9 months later, she gave birth to her bastard twins, the Starion and the Conquest. Years later, when they got married, the decided to disown their bastard children, leaving them to fend on their own. And so today you have them silently roaming the streets, stalking and killing their prey :D
or some shit like that :lmfao:

Conquests are just Starions though. They were just brought here for Chrysler. Like Dodge Colt GT is just a turbo mirage. It says IMPORTED FOR DODGE on the back. Like on Conquests it says IMPORTED FOR CHRYSLER.

I'm at the point to where I've been a little busy with the new job, BUT all I need to do is pull a broken bolt, replace it, lube up the cam, put and make sure my timing is set, put back the radiator and air intake assembly, a battery and turn the key and hope that being a n00b I've managed to doing a head swap :D - the engine swap comes later on ( haha yea, all this work to get a daily driver, only to have the engine taken out in a month and replaced in a weekend :lmao: )

anyways, thats how it was when the head was pulled off  apparently the previous owner broke it or something and crammed it down in there and sealed the rest of the head up with RTV silicon stuff - which slowly started to fail
Consider yourself repaid. :D :goodjob:

there'd be NO way those cars would hold traction - this car weighs 3200lbs w/o the driver and breaks loose easy enough - I've spun the tires pinning the tach @ 6k up into 3rd gear - its a crazy sonuvabitch engine :screwy:

Hopped up M10, or E30 M3.
With the 510 and 240z you just throw a v8 in it and your good to go. Honestly I wouldnt put that motor/drivetrain in anything but another starion.

You won't catch me putting a Starion engine or a V8 in mine.
V8 = nose heavy
Starion engine = blasphemy
My Nissan will have a Nissan engine in it. Still not sure which one, but one of them lol!

That would be crazy.....but if it was true I would think that you or someone you know would have been able to confirm it. Starquest owners are a niche group of people, and something like that would get around fast I would think.
People have swapped damn near everything into a 510. I have seen rotary's (duh), a shit ton of different Nissan engines (including one guy that put a VG30dett out of a Z32 300ZX Twin Turbo in his  ), a 4.3litre Chevy V6 with twin turbos, and even one with an F20C out of an S2000. You finally talk to someone on the blue one? Ready to make moves on it?
Also, anything on that black one too? I know, I'm inpatient! lol Someone give me some money! ;)
the black one runs wierd under hard boost, and they have both been sitting for about two years now...
I tried to send a PM but apparently your box is full!
Kalifornia087 has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space.
Can you describe how the black one ran in more detail? Did it buck? Did it act like it wasn't getting gas or maybe too much gas?
More detail please! I'm looking into getting them both here soon and want to get an idea of what I'm getting myself into with them! ;)
Thanks!

oh yeah thats gonna be sick if we're all MPI... i'm like 80% there got the TB (Q45), the injectors (4x1000cc), and the turbo ... all i need now is the intake and tubular exhaust mani) the intake mani = turbo dave, been waiting for like 2 months now.... and the exhaust mani... i might just make... Get some mandrel bends from the muffler shop, MIG weld tack it up... then take it back to the muffler shop for them to nicely super duper legit weld

^^ screw you!
Aside from the engine knocking (pretty sure the main bearings went ), its plagued with electrical gremlins ( lets try the alternator wiring kept melting of the bolt kept being cut through, fusible links going through meltdown, the alarm system never deactivating - which was a bitch and a half because everytime i opened the car door - EVERYTIME - the alarm would go off, and the headlights would set off, so I had to d/c the horn and headlight relays for the alarm, and for some reaosn of another if the batt was left connected it would drain it in a matter of hours, although we coundt find any light or anything that was on ) - just something I do NOT want to deal with
