I am about to buy me a new gun. I want somethin that I can just go out and shoot and have fun with. The place I get my guns from has a nice AK-47 and 2 nice AR-15's. The AK-47 is around 400 and the AR-15's are 700 and the other around 850. The cheaper AR-15 is just smaller than the other one but they are both the same gun just different sizes. What yall think I should get?

If you get an AK-47, make sure that you get a milled receiver. If the receiver is stamped, then pass on it and get the AR. If you get an AR, make sure that you get the "shorty" M4 style with a 14.5-16" barrel.

I want a smaller gun. Somethin that I can just go out and shoot alot and have fun with. Right now I don't want to get a rifle. I will end up gettin my dads guns soon probably. 30-06, 35, .50 cal muzzleloader and a browning sweet 16 16 gauge.

Right now I only have a .243 and a Mosin Nagant M44. I can't go out and shoot the Mosin Nagant to much cause I am a small guy and that gun kicks like hell and my shoulder gets sore after a while

You should try to find a Steyr Aug. The germans used to use it for the army standard issue. I am not sure how much they are but I believe they fire the same round as an AK-47.

the ak has a good fire power with range and not to mention if you're a good shot, some hellacious accuracy.
but thats me...so take into consideration, fire rate, range, accuracy, and rounds per clip.

or spend some money and get a M4 Carbine w/ silencer.

I only paid 80. They are pretty cheap cause they are surplus guns and there are so many of them. It was made in 1944 and all the serial numbers on it match except for the buttplate piece. It shoots really good too, you couldn't tell it was that old by shootin it or lookin at it. I got it and cleaned it up really good and take good care of it now. Every time I go out and shoot I always take it apart and clean it afterwards.

i have 3 of each gun. I use a ar15 mostly for plinking and if I'm going to be shooting ALOT in the same day. AK if I'm in the mood to just blow shit up. AK seems like such a rowdy gun while the AR seems more precise. They can both be awesome guns. IMO it's a person preferance like a car or something.

I've heard a lot of good things about them. You just pick what you want and they ship it to a gun dealer near you so you can get the background check and everything... I've seen some pretty good deals on there. I'll most likely be getting my next gun through them.

7.62 is much cheaper to shoot than .223 is. If that's an issue to think about, the AK is not a bad choice. If not, I'd go for the AR myself. :goodjob:

thats a stupid philosophy, just cause the work the best and are the most inexspensive dont get one is that what your saying ?
i dont like ar's but thats just me, the main reason is i dont like supporting a design that are troops hate. also i like a gun a can treat like crap and no it will work, a ak will go bang everytime you pull the trigger it may not be as accurate after 300 meters but 10 bucks says you cant hit much at 300 meters with open sights. so the question is do you want somthin thats cheaper and works better and is a bigger caliber or do you want somthin thats more "humain", neets more cleaning and is more exspensive ? its a no brainer for me if i was going to spend alot of money on a "assult rifle" i would buy the springfield m1a1 socom. well good luck with yoiur buy and be safe

BTW one of my AKs is a POS stamped norinco that I only bought because I got it for $150. I've put over 10,000 rounds through it (I shoot alot) and never once cleaned it. Not even before I shot it. I don't recall a single time ever having a problem with it firing. I honestly treat the gun like crap, but it works every time.

The AK-47 is known all around the world as being the most robust and reliable gun...that is why everybody and their brother carries one in other contrys. If there is a bullet in the chamber and you pull the trigger it will shoot...

Yes, if you are suggesting that he buy an MP5, your knowledge of guns is rather limited. You are looking at a $10,000-17,000 gun depending on trigger-config and options (for full auto, at least). The semi-autos, if you can find them, are a bit cheaper, but still typically over $5k if I remember the pricing correctly.

On the MP5SD (integrated silencer), the bolt action is, in face, louder than the report. You are correct. I have shot one once and ear plugs were laughed at. :)

I'm not sure if it sits on ball bearings, but I do know that the "closed bolt" system is what really gives it the edge/difference over other weapons of its class.
