No, compressed fuel and air mixture burns in the cylinder on the top of the pistons. When the rings become tired and worn they allow some of this compressed and burning mixture to leak past and escape into the crankcase. That is called "blow by".

He is right about the blow by. Means your rings are going bad, or a ring lance has broken if it's excessive.

Just check your exhaust pipe.... too oily or you can see oil on the driveway (at the muffler) when you start your car then congratulations, you have been blown by! LOL

blow by is caused by differnent things ,not just piston rings or ring lands.

what it is is excessive oil or pressure is getting by the rings an getting to the exhaust valve.

normally there are 2 types:
Piston rings are going bad, or the ring gaps are stacked on top of each other , an oil gets by the comrpession ring an pushed out the exhaust valve causing the smoke to come out your tail pipe.

Valvestem seals can cause blow by as well, if they are worn out or not seling, oil will get by the seal an drop down past the stem an valve guide, causeing it to go out the exhaust.

usually, on turbo cars, excessive pressure from the turbo can actually push oil by the rings on the pistons an create blow by effect. If you run forged pistons, you must have a clearance of 2-3 thou more than a cast piston to make up for the amount of "expansion" the forged piston does, if your clearance is too big, youll get blow by.

same with ring gap, if its too wide, blow by.

i wouldnt worry about blow by unless you are smoking like a freight train.

my latest build that i just decommissioned had ZERO blowby, it was pretty wierd. i had the line off the valve cover and NOTHING was coming out, air, oil, i just left it open haha. I could open the oil cap and look down in to the valve cover and see the cam spinning without getting air or oil shot in my eye. It was very calm inside, like a storm was coming inside the head. lol

Had you added that phrase to the end, you'd be considered a poet. ALMOST son, almost.
