ALBANY, N.Y. - The state's highest court declined Tuesday to hear Sean "Diddy" Combs' appeal of a lower court decision ordering him to pay more than $19,000 a month in child support payments.

The hip-hop mogul was ordered last year to pay ex-girlfriend Misa Hylton-Brim for the care of their 12-year-old son Justin.

The order issued by the New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division in 2005 came after Combs appealed a Westchester Family Court ruling that he should pay $35,000 a month.

Hylton-Brim had sued for higher monthly payments and about $398,000 in back support.

The appellate court judge awarded a lower, undisclosed amount in back support and ordered Combs to pay Hylton-Brim's legal fees. The judge initially set monthly support payments at $21,782, but later reduced the amount.

"We're pleased the original order was reduced but we thought there were issues applicable for the Court of Appeals to entertain," said Combs' attorney, Stephen Gassman.

In 1996, Combs was initially ordered to pay $2,795 a month in child support, according to court documents.

Combs, 36, also pays child support to model Kim Porter for their son, Christian.

the court sets the cost though, not the mom. I don't understand how they figure out how much should be paid.

I am not sure of the law in which ever state this is in is, but in ga unless agreed upon by the parents the court set a figure based on the non-custdail parent between 17% and 23%.

EDIT: actually if he can prove that she isnt using for the child's well being he can take her to court and have the child support lessened or stopped.

Laws are laws. I would be pissed if because he makes more than the average joe he is allowed to pay a lower percentage in Child Support.

The tax system and politics are already slanted in favor of those with more money, so we don't need anything else going that way either.

My ex is basically a secretary. She needs help, but she does not need "that" much help. In July though they change the law where they look at both parents' incomes. I think I will get a break after that. We shall see.

If she is making more than min-wage you will get a break. I just got out of a marriage and we just finished up all the papers late last month. My lawyer was the one who told me that you will get a break alil bit if she is making more than min-wage.

Thats to much money, I dont give a ratass how much he make.. Wtf will he need all that money for in a month.

I think for a man to pay that much for child support, The court systems should have control over that money. Send the mother enough a month to take care of the child and the rest put away into savings or something by the Court.

Im sure that bitch is blowing that money away. I can only imagine her already with her peach card... hahahaha bitch.

When I worked at a pharmcy I would get pissed off. A parent and kid would come in wearing designer cloths and when the parent would set their keys up on the counter I would see I nice BMW key on it. 'Sir\Mam do you have insurance?' out comes the peach care card that they pay 50 cents a month for...and we wonder why our health care system isnt working right...

I forgot to mention, that money saved by the court system should be given to the kid once his 18.
