So, IA.com member Snapper hit me up this morning and asked me if I truly got $3,000,000 (3 million) out of my accident. Apparently, IA member justwongit told him that and has been telling others.

Seriously, I am in tears, here. TEARS. $3 million dollars. The kid was 18 years old! His insurance policy was for $100k. He had no assets and the parents had no money. That means, we could get no more than $100k, total, from his insurance. Total.

Take out lawyer fees, various medical bills that my insurance didn't cover, and you aren't left with much money.

Lawyer fees aren't included as a part of any policy limits. ANY. You have the right to be represented by your insurance company, whether or not you were at fault, whether or not there are any grounds for litigation.

Yes, people love to let rumors fly. I won't lie, I WISH that they would have had more money/better insurance policy. The fact is that I didn't get very much out of all of that comparitively. The kid was 17-18yrs old and his family (mother/father) was barely getting by. There was just no money to be had and you cannot take more money from the insurance policy than they were covered for. If I didn't have my own insurance through work, I would have owed about $100-150k in medical bills as the family could not have afforded to pay them. I think that too many younger people watch too many movies/tv shows. That twists their logic into thinking things that are not true.

In pakistan, (a while back) there was this kid (related to a friend of mines).. Rich spoiled kid, his dad bought him a lotus for his BDay, wahtever he ran into a gas tanker and kaboom, kid died instantly.. to this day, they have the valve cover from the lotus, it was some of the only distinguishable peices of wreckage. They hung it up in their house :(

My license plate, but I would have kept that anyway. :) They changed the style last year, so the "RUINER" plate from the wreck is in my garage. The newer style "RUINER" plate is on my current car. That's about it, really.
