BABY J

This has been done b4.... but here are the rules. The car MUST be available here in the US w/out importing. You can NOT mod it other than lowering and wheels. What car would you choose? ETs do not matter, HP does not matter... just you, the car, some suspension and some wheels. You can also post "why" you chose this car as your all-time personal favorite.

PS --> The 1st person who says "Skyline GTR" is gonna get slapped upside the head w/ a sack of hot doughnuts.

MY LIST:

1) 1991 - 1994 Nissan Sentra SER (B13)
2) Datsun 510 Coupe

Who the hell are you again? It doesnt appear that you created the thread to start with.

It seemed odd people were choosing sentras and other normal cars if the sky was the limit.

In that case, I vote for the Porsche 959.
The car was built 19 years ago, and has technology and performance that is just today being adopted by other exotics. Totally amazing machine (which I finally got to see for the first time in-person a few weeks ago.)
Honorable mention goes to the datsun 240z and the mkiv supra. The 240 defined the affordable sports-car concept forever, and the supra is the best of the breed of the 90's japanese musclecars/supercars (depending on your preference.)

VERY good choices. I have not heard the 959 mentioned in a few years... that tells me how versed you are in the old school. **thumbs up**While the sky is the limit in this thread, I am not a "supercar" guy. I seriously doubt I'd own one even if I was a billionaire (honestly). I am truly old school... but you better believe my old school rides would be SO brilliantly done that they'd be near supercar status. :) Good read.

Good job with the 959, too bad the drivetrain is so far advanced beyond most shops abilities to work on ;) Don't think it was available here either...it was not approved by the DOT to be legal on US streets until just a couple years ago.

The car was based on the 911's basic chassis, but I dont know if the wheelbase was modified. For those who arent familiar, here are a few of the goodies:
twin sequential turbos
active AWD with driver adjustable torque split
active ride height with computer controlled or manual adjustment
kevalr composite and aluminum body
6 speed manual transmission
magnesium wheels
multilink suspension
4-piston brakes
high 11 sec 1/4 miles near 120 mph stock

Many of these items were firsts for production cars, and many are still available only on exotics now.

The "confort" version was fully loaded with A/C. stereo. leather, power windows, etc, but still only weighed around 3000 pounds

Anyway, its my favorite :)

To the guy who said that he wanted an M3 GTR....there were only two. One is owned by the family of a high up BMW exec, and I think they lost track of the other one. If I remember correctly, it was blocked by MB from racing, so they never actually made it.

If I remember correctly, it was blocked by MB from racing, so they never actually made it.correction, in order to race it had to be available as a production car and be offered for sale on at least 2 continents within 12 months of the rules being issued. They made 10 street cars just so they could stuff the bigass V8 under the hood of a the 3-series on the track but then the ALMS still overruled them due to it still being under the amount made for a "production" car. It's all bullshit because they never said how many had to be made, just as long as it was road legal, available for sale on 2 continents, and all done within 12 months...in which they met all the criteria for.

I like cars that have a presence, like the minute you see it you are in awe.

Carrera GT #1
Gallardo #2
Supra (modified)
obviously the G35's..(slightly modified)
M3

And I honestly feel I'll own every one of them in my lifetime.. well except the M3

I went to that GT meet, and I talked to the Evans guy he said complete it was 160k. And a rolling chassis for 110k. For the 50k extra you have a complete one with corvette engine and some type of porsche tranny. But sites I've been on say it's 250k, which is not what the Evans guy told me. If I I was to buy it. I would get the rolling chassis and spend 50k on an NA 4 rotor. Just like the other car that was at the GT meet that had a 4 rotor.

My favorite car is the Enzo Ferrari for the following reasons.
1.) A V12 that redlines at 8,000 rpms
2.) Looks sexy in red ( my favorite color )
3.) f1 tranny with paddle shifters
