political ploy to help solidify the powers of the church in the minds and hearts of the people in Europe..and to gain control of the region in which the Church held no real power in...
and to kill all the brown people...

Welcome to the hypocrisy of organized religion
More like the hypocrisy of organized catholicism.
That church/country/political power has a long and bloody history of treason, torture, murder, genocide, and host of other crimes. One of the central issues has always been control of so called holy lands. That coupled with the false notion that there is no salvation outside that 'church' adds up to bad things for alot of people.

My take on the crusades is that Christians tryed to make there own man made way and not consult God on this issuse...which made some Christians look alittle forceful and cruel. But then again im not a big junky on the crusades.....soo you know

Much have been done "in the name of the Lord". Very few actually do His work.
