I was reading some threads and I see alot of people have their parents buy their cars... and alot who do it themselves.. Just curious who bought your car...

Since i made this I will start. All four of my cars I bought myself: The eclipse was with my pell grant moeny, the tracker was with my summer vet tech job and I paid over a year on it, my civic was paid with my 04 tax returns... and my supra... well i paid for that myself too...

Well Pell gave me 4000 a semester.. and at the time my classes only cost me 1100.. So I got a check for the rest and used it to get a car since I wasnt living at home (i was 3 hour away) and I needed a car..

Bought the Spyder MYSELF, though plenty of people greet me with either:
"What does your dad do?"
er... he's pushing up daisies, douchebag
-or
"What does your boyfriend/husband/fiancee do?"
makes me cook and do dishes.

I bought my 300zx and I bought my Cougar. Paid for all my mods too. People can rag on either my cars, but most of the time its immature young fucks that do it. :)

oh, and on the subject...not bashing or any sort....but i dont understand people who bash people if their car was bought for their parents. I mean if the parents can afford to give their child a car, then why not? i mean i paid for my truck....but if i had a kid and could afford to buy them a car...long as they showed appreciation and responsibilty, then sure.

yeah i agree, i think there are just too many ppl out there that have their cars bought for them and they have not respect or appreciation for it. i've known ppl to just wreck one car after another and every time they end up with something better.

i myself was given a car to drive (an old family handmedown, not a new car by any means) when i went away to school at the age of 16. couple yrs later i chipped in for something else. my folks were always more concerned about me studying and whatnot when i was goin thru school instead of working all the time (even though i did anyway). bout to buy my first by myself though now that i've graduated and have a real job and shit.

ive had alot of cars. my first was a 88 s10 i was given from my stepdad because he was offered 500 dollers as a trade in on his f150. i was 15. i took that car, sold it, and bought me a 93 civic. sold it and put it as a payment on my second 2000 civic, and got my rents to cosign on a loan and made payments through my job. i totalled it, and used the insurance to pay rest of the loan and used the left over for a 98 frontier from an auto auction. my brother painted that for me and helped rebuild the tranny. my real dad gave my his 97 f150 for two reasons; one he couldnt get trade in on it because of 180k miles, and second, he never paid child support and has started feeling guilty. i then sold the fronteir for 1000 because it got rolled and bought a system. i traded the f150 for a 2002 civic ex and took a loan to cover the rest and started making payments. my mom and stepdad paid it off for a graduation present a few months later. i then sold it, bought my miata, and paid for my apartment. so, ive had help but ive always wheeled and dealed for what i wanted. im about to start making payments on a 2004 sti when i get moved back to gwinnett. all mods are paid for by me, but my rents have loaned me a few hundred through the years for unforseen mechanical problems, but have been paid back most times.

and i think the comments towards that 16 yr old isnt because his dad bought the car, but because most of us didnt get a turbo civic as our first car. we had to work for mods etc. but to each his own i guess. im glad hes that lucky, tho not what id put my son in before he is certified to drive. LOL.

Got both my Altima and my S2k by myself. The alti had a nigh interest rate because I couldnt get a co-sign but the S is reasonable since I took care of my credit. I do wish my parents could've bought'em (doesnt everyone?), but then I dont think I wouldve appreciated them so much.

Parents gave me my car as a grad present which costed $15,000. Lets just say I tried to make it so I can pay for my car since I have a job and he bitched slap me across the face and told me to save my money. So next car either an S2K or possibly a G35 from selling my Prelude and me paying for the rest. They hate that idea...they seriously do. Im thinking Im gonna be kicked in the balls for this one.

My sol is all me. :) And the mods are all me, too. And more than once, I have been stuck in the "eat lunch, or pay for mod?" bracket... usually the mod wins. My dad helps out from time to time.. loaning me an extra $50 to pay for this, or randomly getting me a present that he knows I need, but 95% of the car has been paid for by me. Makes it SO much sweeter to see it all coming together.

my current car was an early graduation present from my parents bc the car I had before it was a 98 Acura 3.0CL which was a lemon and I was broke as shit paying for repairs on that junk all the time.

My first car was given to me (95 talon, 16th birthday present)...at 18 some lady rear ended me and totaled it. With the insurance money I mananged a 97 eclipse with a blown motor. Then I swapped in the motor from my old talon. All mods were paid for myself (except an old intake pipe, which was a gift). My parents have loaned me money to fix the car before, although I have since payed them back (it's a DSM it breaks a lot...lol). I know there are some people who are given cars and have no respect for them, but I think that those people would be the same way if they bought the car themselves (especially since if they bought it themselves it would probably be a pos beater). I take more care of my car than anything else I own and and very grateful to have received it.

2001 - I bought my first car Accord. Dad put down 3K for down payment - Totalled, my fault.
2001 - Bought my 2nd Accord, 3yrs payment - Totalled in 05 - Not my fault, got rear ended
2005 - Bought my dad a new Toyota Sienna minivan - Cash, and I drive his Camry, totalled later that year - not my fault, hit a run.
2005 - Bought my 3rd Accord to be my daily - Cash
2005 - Also bought me the G35C - 3 yrs payment
2006 - Bought GF the IS250. She paid it cash :P

Though I'm the only child, I don't want to rely on my parents, that's why I'm trying my very best to show them what I can do :) I never asked their money for any thing. I work on cars & paid for things I want to do by myself. I just want them not to worry and be happy.

my dad gave me my old 94 accord when i was 16 right after he paid it off. he bought it in 95 w/ low miles. i drove it until i was 18 and some old woman decides to pull out if front of me, totalled the car bit my fault. i paid for all the mods on that car, then took the 4k i got from insurance and borrowed 2k from my folks which i have paid off a while back and bought my 97 accord i have now, i have paid for all the mods i have done. i am thankful for my parents giving me a car, i totally respect it, do all the maintanence myself and baby my car. I'm not one of those ungreatful bastard kids you see beating on the car their mommy and daddy gave to them and eventually totalling it (their fault)

My first car was a 1990 Buick Skylark. My dad gave it to me, that's the only thing I was given though. Flame on that but its a f'in Buick.. Skylark at that, lol.. but I am glad that was my first car though. Being 16, a new driver, jsut learning how to take car of a car on my own, I am glad that it was jsut a Buick after what happened to it. Transmission slipped like no other, and i totalled it too, lol

After that My mom helped with a down payment on a 96 Accord, but i made the payments.. well only 2 before that was totalled.

Right about that time my sister lost her licence so I took over her Sunfire for 6 months and took over payments.

Then, I was 19 I think I bought my Cavalier.. my name only and I made the payments. By this time I was on my own anyways, lol

Got rid of the Cavalier for the 95 Accord and now I have no payments, lol... But soon I am getting another car and that will be me and only me again :)
