I went and looked at a 240sx today that was sitting in the back yard of someones house that caught fire. The car had grass grown up all around and a co-worker knows the people that use to live there. My question is how do i tell what year it is? I couldnt see the front bumper to well and i didnt wanan pop the hood and look under. But it did have a HUD. Do only the DOHC's come with heads up? It was a coupe.

Thanks for all the help.

could be a SOHC, they came with HUDs as well.

if the bumper looks more angular, its a 89-90 sohc

if it looks rounded, 91-94 dohc

You could also look at the vin plate in the drivers side door. I t give a manufacturers date on it as well. :)

I didnt wanna try to open the door or pop the hood. I didnt want anyone to pull up and think i was trying to steal their shit or something.

Assuming it is stock, the front end could also help determine the year.

Pignose front, 1989-1990

Non-pignose, 1991-1993, all 1994s were convertibles

Hope this helps.

i couldnt see the front end. It had grass grown up all the way around it up to the fenders. But i didnt remember seeing any holes in the top of the bumper so im guessing it was a 91-93.
