$800 a month would barely pay rent (And thats before taxes). I don't see how they do it, unless 2-3 of them live together. Even then it would be hard as hell.

Same here. Been in the ghetto, working, for the last 5 years and see it daily. I also live it. A lot of you guys would shit if you knew what I made(right now). I don't have it quite as hard as these people on the show, but I am not, by any means, in any money. That's why this CDL for me is so important. Later, QD.

If you all make the same at your company for your position , Then I know. But I dont think is close to those peeps on Oprah.

Straight down, we all make the same as helpers. But then you figure in the taxes, anyone with child support(me), amount of insurance each person carries(I have full family insurance), your 401K, and it gets different.

But you are right, and as I said in my previous post, it isn't as bad as these Oprah folks. Later, QD.

No access to a television but I'm curious, do they have the means to better their situation? What I mean by this is do they want to be in a better position and have the ambition to do something about their current situation.

They say is hard where they are at or something.... Not really sure what to think.

But I think or atleast here in GA, I dont think MIN wage is an issue? Or am I not paying attention

Why would it be a stupid move? Well.. Hnmm.. if it does go up.. to what will it be raised to? I mean, If you are a fulltime employee (single ) with a family ( 2 kids) I think that if you make under 15 bucks an hour it has to be tight squeeze atleast in GA?

I think between 12 to 15 an hr for a Single person with there priority straight is a good thing.

The thing with me, also, is I have never been on Medicaid, Food Stamps or any other government funding. I've never called one of those churches that helps out with the bills or food or anything. I am my own man and I do what I can to provide. I don't want to use someone else.

Tony. Sometimes it can get hard to better yourself. I have been with Budweiser for almost 7 years. I am just now getting my CDL to drive there. The thing that has stopped me is my personal driving record. I had a couple of license suspensions for non-payment of traffic tickets. I just couldn't gather that much money up at once to pay it. This year, I was finally in a position to take care of everything and get started on my license. My company pays for the CDL, so I'm good on that. If it takes every dime you make to pay for your bills and residence, there is no money to take care of other things. Some people make so little, they can't afford to try and quit there job to get another and risk losing a week or two worth of paychecks. Later, QD.

Damn crazy in here...But For me I make about 12 an hour...and to make my bills is still a struggle...I know what its like to go without...My mother used to work 3 jobs to make ends meet..(when I was younger).Things can be very hard, especially on min wage.

It would be a great move to raise it....

My family has never had government help....but somehow we always made it.

You do what you have to do

They did that in Alaska.. minimum wage was raised to like $7.50 an hour. Literally all it did was raise the prices, to offset the rise in wages companies raised their retail prices... the end result is your paying $6.00+ for a value meal at Mcdonalds and I kid you not that is what happened.

Higher wages that are forced by the government mean a couple of things from a business standpoint: Layoffs or Higher prices, the market will adjust and you're back to square one, although you are making more you are also paying just as much.

There are people out there that make $100k a year and barely live paycheck to paycheck. How much money a person makes doesnt really tell how well off they are, I think its the spending habits that determines a persons wealth in the end.

And from your previous threads, If i remember correctly you mentioned you worked as a bar tender, or something in an apartment complex or something like that. Anyway, you shouldn't really say what you said to someone who, to me atleast, is way more successful and well off than you are, through their hardwork and determination.

Starting Salary for a Store Mgr at Racetrac is 40 k without bonus.. with Bonus theres no telling.. You had managers making 60 to 70 k last year.

Last year I average about 1100 a week w/ bonus. I want to beat that this year.

I have knowledge & experience in running a convience store
Would applying as a general manager in the future be a good idea or bad?
or continue to operate small convience stores & own them..

I remember 3 yrs ago for the gas load at my place was about 10 or 11 Thousand and now it doubled to almost 21 Thousand.

Gas makes your money tight as shit.

But for you, as a general manager, im sure you don't really have to worry about that shit.

Don't know really.. Is pretty much promotion from within... Im in no rush though, really dont want to deal with more work at this momment.. i love my store and believe or not, I like dealing with the public.. + the $$ potential is there.. but hey.. you never know.

Right now... QT's Racetrac and BP CONNECTS and PILOT's have GA on Lock.
You owning a GAs station right now would not be smart to do with that kinda of competition. But if you get a good location with no real competitor you might just bank.

At RT you have to apply in lower management and move your way up the ranks.

Yeah, I've noticed QT's & BP Connects all Follow Racetrac Gas Prices usually.

Is a war between RT and QT.. usually is back and forth.. someone always trying to lead the market up or down. Gas prices just need to go down
