Meth amphetamine: White people Crack

Crack Cocaine: Black people Meth

What i am most upset about is the way the government is handling this meth problem. It seems to me they care more about the whole meth deal moreso than crack becuase of who it is affecting. Meth is attacking the oung, and even the older white population. i was watching the news tonite and its showing how they are cracking down a lot on these meth labs( which is a good thing), but it seems like whats killing blacks is less cared ab out. Also it was mentioned that the government was going to spend over $1 million dollars on meth treatment programs. What the hell? Government willing to help people get off this drug? I dont recall that ever being done for crack users. Oh but wait, its taking out Black people so it doesn't matter as much. Now i am an 80s baby so i dont know much about what programs/methods were used back in the day during the whole inflation of crack, so those older peoples please enlightnen me.

Am I the only that notices this or feels that government is a little biased in their actions?

Nah but seriously tho. I know that crack use to be a SERIOUS problem back in the early 90's. But in my opinion, I think the new METH epidemic is a much bigger problem right NOW. Instead of just looking at the drug itself, you need to look at the bigger picture. Unlike crack Meth is used in other drugs such as Ecstacy as well. At the same time, Meth also appeals to a wider scale of drug users.

I understand exactly where you are comming from tho....
There are conspiricies out there that state that crack was introduced to the streets for the solo purpose of destroying the black race. But who really knows?

Agreed. crack was "created" by drug dealers as a way to cut cocain with cheaper substances, as well as make it more intense and more addictive. There is no rocket science to it that the government would have been involved with. And no one is forcing people to use it.
I dont understand why everything is a conspiracy theory about whites againts minorities. A lot of the drug dealers who make it and sell it are black, selling it to their own people, as well as white people. Does this make them "racist" also...against blacks and whites? see, it might just be the area i live in, but i have seen/heard of crack usage like twice and meth 29o32992349 times. i just feel it is a bigger problem now. i might be wrong, and if the programs are set up that way, by race, i agree something needs to change. a drug problem is a problem, no matter your color.

In the Atlanta area, methamphetamine users account for the fastest-growing segment of addicts seeking treatment. Rehabilitation centers there are seeing an uptick in the number of women meth addicts, while officials in Minneapolis-St. Paul say they're treating an alarming number of meth users younger than 18.

"Most people just think it happens in the farmlands and the prairies or out back behind the barn," says Carol Falkowski, director of research communications at the Hazelden Foundation in Minnesota. But that's not the case anymore.

Falkowski found that meth addicts now represent about 10 percent of patients admitted to drug treatment programs in the Twin Cities (search), compared with 7.5 percent a year ago and about 3 percent in 1998. About a fifth of those meth users who sought help in the last year were minors.

She and other experts who track urban drug trends for National Institute on Drug Abuse (search) are meeting this week in Long Beach, Calif., to present their findings. Some have noted a big jump in the use of meth — particularly in its potent crystal form — in the past six months to a year.

I guess it could seem like that, but I know white, black and hispanic people that have used Meth. Its just that Meth is so cheap to make in large quantity, out of normal chemicals, that its become much more of an epidemic than crack ever was. Meth is targeted at younger kids who are easier to influence, which makes it a bigger issue to most parents. Crack seems to be used more widely by a little older of an age group.
