Car: 1999 Honda Civic EX Coupe

Exhaust: Apexi N 1 FUll Catback Exhaust

Problem: The exhaust rattles against the bottom of the car where the muffler is conneted to the piping

Questions:

Is it mounted incorrectly? Because its not at an angled as I was expecting

The hole on the tip where the screw holds the silencer is to the right..which is thought was directly up and down

How many rubber hangers are on the EX/SI Model?

I remember 5 Rubber Hangers on the EX

2 on the muffler
1 on the piping that connets to the muffler
1 Near the cat to the piping

There is an extra hook on the exhaust that seems like i am missing another hanger but there is no where to attach it to...below are pictures to help you understand

appreciate any help

first id reccommend taking the heat shroud off cuz that could be vibrating. also, from the pictures, it looks like ur muffler section is upside down. my n1 hung down not up, by that i mean the hangers should go from the rubber pieces down to the muffler, not up to the muffler. try to rotate it around. also, ur last missing rubber piece should be on the right side of the muffler. it seems u are missing that.

hahah in the pic of the muffler, your missing the rubber hanging thing, i call that a grommett. if i saw it in real life i could prolly help more as i had this exact exaust and had no fitment issues.

nope..i am not missing a hanger..confirmed in on honda-tech...same issue with greddy evo exhaust...all SOHC owners have 1 less hanger..i just have to adjust the exhaust..and maybe try a different combination so that the back doesn't rub..

my greddy evo 2 rattled for a long time i had to trim down my hangers so i would check your hangers

dude this is what you do, take your ride down to "EXHAUST WIZARD" off hwy.29 lawrenceville highway, its near the post office near beaver ruin, he will fix your problem for cheap. Dude did my apexi N1 catback on my teg, installed a new catalytic converter, and extended it all for $65. And I sat there and watched him do it, he did a great job and made sure everything was correct.

appreciate the post..i'm familiar with the shop...i installed it at Lexus witha buddy that works there...just tryin to figure hte problem out before i go up there next weekend..can't bet free especially since i replaced the cat and spent some time on my back with a buddy to take off the rustly stock exhaust and all the rusted and rounded off bolts and installed a used cat and a new exhaust system in 30mins...not hard to do but just easier on a lift

and after some research on Honda Tech and talking to Scotty at mainstream...the civics only have 1 hanging on the mid pipe...

all i have to do is loosen or tighten the bolts to make any adjustments and also swap the pipe ends..because it can be bolted on backwards and thats probably hte main problem

thanks for all the input guys..i will post pics and the solotion to this once its done

nah, I know its easy to install, hell I can do it less than 30min, My apexi did not fit exactly like it was suppose to, where the "S" pipe connects to the axle back then to the mid pipe, thats why I took it to the shop plus it came about 2 1/2 to 3inches short from the cat, so it needed to be extended. Why don't you just get a new hanger welded on? or replace the rubber garmets?

cause thats not the issue..its just that one of the pipings is on backwards..i have two buddies with the same exhaust but both on SI...and it fit perfect...its jsut a matter of aligning it correctly...easy..fix

appreciate your input though
