can someone tell me what the HICAS are. i've been told by one person they are rear wheel steering. Also what does it mean when the HICAS light is on.

i think it stands for high capacity active suspension.. sorta like actiev steering... I believe the light indicates you have a problem.

It is basiclly like an all wheel steering set up but it doens't mean that much.

If the light comes on that means it is permanantly fucked up.

Depending on which system you have it could mean any number of things. The best option to do is buy the HICAS eliminator bar for about $100 and delete it altogether. As stated above its a problem for true racing or high performance driving. Deleting it takes about an hour and is well worth it.

i was planning on getting the eliminator for the HICAS but i wasn't sure if it would have to be fixed before i did that so as not to mess up anything else. Or i might pull the fuses. jp. thanks for your help.

how does HICAS work against you interms of performance? I thought it kicks in only when cornering and at certain speeds... like above 50mph. For drifting it definately works against you.

i believe it only works at lower speeds. but under heavy loads on the rear i'm sure if it's disabled without the bar then it could move around still.

Sorry if this is dumb. I really don't know anything about super hicas and I've never worked on them but if you pulled the fuse for the hicas, the all wheel sterring is removed. Now my question is, would the rear wheels lock up and not be able to steer (making it just like a front-wheel steering car) or would it just be loose and turn which ever way it feels like?

once you delete the hicas it will be just like a normal rwd car. and to clarify if anyone is still unclear on the fact, HICAS make the rear wheel turn at speeds lower than 15-20mph for better parking and sharper low speed turning. really good for city driving and what not.
