Hey guys, i didnt know where i should post this, but i think that we should not let people with less than 40 posts put cars up for sale. i see alot of people with like 10 posts or less advertising their cars up for sale with little info and not following the rules. What you guys think?

i have seen 3 people advertise cars with less than 10 posts earlier and one with 35 but out of his 35 posts, like 28 are about 2 for sale threads. shit is dumb.

I think its up to the mods...cause they are the ones that delete the thread if not enough info is provided.

half the time when you see one newb sell a car, when there are a shit load of newbs that post after them with like 3 or 4 posts, its the same person

Another forum that I'm a member of, you need a minimum of 200 posts to sell anything. 40 would be stupid because is it easy to whore in here just to sell a car.

I'm all for it. It would sure the hell eliminate people like that kid with 40 posts a few days ago that started talking shit about IA members and complaining that we were lowballing him on his shitty cars that nobody wanted.
EDIT: by "it" i mean the 200 post limit.

yup. and i cant remember but one of my buddies is registered with a hatch site and before they can post they have to have like 200 or something too. im just tired of seeing people post and be like oh ill have the info later. Do it right the first time or dont bother and the mods shouldnt have to be on every newbs ass to fix the post.

I say 200 posts and 60 days. That would discourage a lot of bullshit and get rid of all these stupid for sale threads that don't have shit in them.
2.0civic
04-05-2006, 11:28 PM
and that would put a end to the post whores who would get 200 in a week by bumping shit up and then being able to post. i hate seeing "ill have pics later tonight or weekend" or WTF ever else shit they put up

or have it like HT. I think you have to be a member for 2 weeks and you only get a 5 post a day limit for those first two weeks.

I applaud your efforts, but it won't change anything. A dishonest/stupid noob will maintain his/her colors whether at 200 or 2000 posts. IMO, most ignorant noobs don't most detailed information b/c they have something to hide about the item/s for sale. But members continue to purchase this junk. Furthermore, having 2 Mods filter through all posts is too much to ask. They have jobs and a life outside of this board. I personally report posts that violate the TOS. The honest members have to help "police" the forum.
BTW, I'd say that a huge percentage of the "For Sale" items are no longer for sale. Posts older than, say 30 days, w/o a post from the owner should be deleted. Perhaps, a few members should be "hired" just for that purpose?

^^^^ very wise words indeed man. I forgot who said it but if i find out i will rep them for the great poing but whoever said that we see these people with limited posts then never hear from them, that was excellent point too.

yeah but I'm sure senior guys on here don't enjoy having their threads bumped down and off pages by newbs who are just on here to make a car sale, and contribute nothing of value to the forum. Priority for the sale section should be on a basis of seniority.

Yeah, all true. Seriously though, can I volunteer to be a for sale forum moderator. I know rut does it and he can't always be around and it seems like I am around at different times than him. Lol. It would be great to have the power to delete those ignorant threads. Especially the ones people keep posting about internet scams, like 'get a free starbucks giftcard'.

I'm a noob to ia, but i totally agree. if you want to sell a car then at least take time to contribute something other than useless bumps for your own car to the forum. garbage like that gives the good noobs a bad name... even though noob isn't a great name in the first place.

thats my point. im glad you understand. my BIGGEST problem with the whole issue (and its not just noobs) in when people put threads up with no pics and are like "ill do it in a few minutes". fuck you. no you wont. take the time to make one post and do it right or dont bother. if you got 5 minutes to paste stupidness, take 5 more to make it right

WTF??!! Did you not read the post?? I said it was a complete accident. What the hell is this?? ne way, it's completely true. People like us think they can drive and end up doing stupid shit to their cars for not a good reason. I wasn't bashing on your skills, I was bashing on our lack of judgement.

my lack of judgement? you told me to try it and i did. your the owner of the car so i did what you said. that sounds like your judgement to me. btw i CAN drive ive just never done that kind of driving before and im pretty sure you know that. just dont give me shit about it at least im a good enough guy to fix it. i could have said fuck that and walked home. btw get that wheel fixed and send me the bill.

oh and yes i think that there should be some sort of rules over noobs selling cars on ia.
BLk92DA
05-14-2006, 07:52 AM
Noobs should post up items for sale...as long as they follow the "for sale" rules. They might post up our dream car for sale and you'd be grateful that they posted.
Besides, people with thousands of post sell cars for their other people anyways.
Why not let noobs post? If they fuck up, give them another chance.. shit gives the admin something to do anyways. :) :2cents:

I like the "100" or "200" post rule, too. I hate the worthless non-contributers that troll through here doing nothing but selling shit. This is a free site and a free selling space and these idiots come through and take advantage of that. That's why I am tougher on these new folks and not the more common, productive IA people. The newer ones are idiots who think they know it all and can come on here and do it how they want.
Just so you know, I don't think all new folks are idiots. Just a lot of them. Later, QD.

Mods and higher ups, is there ANYTHING we can do about this?? people still cant read the rules and STILL post WTB in the FS forums and still make dumbass posts saying "ill have pics in ten minutes" how about we format it where if there isnt a pic on the page when it is submitted, it blocks the post automatically. any way to do that??

No. I'm pretty sure that can't be done. According to the rules, we are giving the people a 4 hour time limit to get photos. The way I see it though, is that when you make the initial post, you should have everything ready then. If you don't have pics or whatever, then don't post until you do have everything. Later, QD.
