so my car is about to hit 170k and i just bought it a year and half a go. i bought it with 156k on it. But what im trying to figure out for myself is, is it worth it, keeping the car, putting a swap into it and all the other stuff? or is it worth it to just save up a couple grand an sell the teg and buy something new? i dont know what i should do. sorry if this is a waste of a post

man if you treat the car right that shit can last another 100k easy.
my car is at 170k and im about to be doing 400 miles aweek just for school. and in no way am i worried. if i have to replace the engine. so be it.. if you love the car. keep it. if not, then get something new to have fun with.

Depends on you. If the car is worth it to you, Keep it. To me my civic is now 6 years old but I wont sell it for something new, the car has to much value to me personally and has to many memories to just sell it. So if the car still takes care of you and you still love it, no amount of money is to high to sink into it if it makes you happy.

pm vetckidd and ask how much a vtec swap is. My bro is going to get a h22 swap into his lude and its a pretty good deal.

170k is nothing for a honda if it is taken care of...swapped engines on my 1st gen integra at 285k and drove it for another year after that.
Add up what you know needs to be replaced...motormounts, bushings, wheel bearings, brakes, hoses, belts, shocks, etc...all the normal things required with a higher mileage but with those things not being replaced the car is worth alot less anyways if you did want to sell it... :2cents: Pick up a parts car for $1k-1,500 and you can have enough parts for yours to run several more years.

Is the motor going out on you? If not, drive it til it blows up or starts losing compression... Then worry about that shit.

Depends on its condition. If its been reliable, and you keep the maintenance up whos to say it won't make it to 300K miles or beyond?
Do you want a car payment?
You really need to decide how long you want to keep it. Cause you won't get anything for it should you decide to sell it with 200K miles or more. So if you don't mind the commitment of keeping it forever then do it. If it was me I would keep it. If you get something else in the future, just keep it as a 2nd car.
