ATLANTA -- It's the top five list that I love.

"Consumer Reports" recently compiled the best of the "affordable" cars.

And I got an inside look at why these five made the list.

This is one impressive line of cars.

“Consumer Reports” ranks all five as best for under $20,000.

And if you think you can't get a great car this cheap, think again!

They put each through 50 tests, checking reliability, fuel economy and safety.

This year's top 5 bargains are the Ford Focus, Mazda-3, Pontiac Vibe, Mini Cooper and the Honda Civic.

All of these top five have the features most buyers demand.

So you can get for under $20,000 curtain and side airbags.

ABS anti-lock brakes are excellent and help you steer during any avoidance maneuver instead locking up the brakes.

All those safety features are available. Sometimes they’re an option; sometimes standard, but again on all the vehicles under twenty grand you can definitely get those.

While the Ford and Mazda are your basic sedans, the Pontiac Vibe is unique.

My MINI sure as hell wasn't under 20K... actually you can't even get a completely base S for that. The supercharger-free base Cooper is a nice car though. Some really interesting features, great handling and very safe for the price.

I love my car. Anyone who doesn't at least appreciate what they can do, has obviously never driven one. :goodjob:

Hell no! Only two people have driven my car. One of them works on it and the other well... he has special priviledges.

Hahaha... I'll take people for rides though... if they stay quiet.

I think mine's better than a JCW ;)
