yea v10sloboy and i raced an rx8 when i first got my car... we were leaving the blink 182 concert and we were both a bit lit... good times... i left him HARD... i would say a stock gsr and an rx8 would be about even.. thats how slow it was

actually FD is faster, it has 255hp/217lb-ft vs. 238hp/156lb-ft of rx-8, according to Edmunds. And Rx-8 is infamous for claiming the high numbers due to some cat issue when dynoing, supposely it puts you into a limp mode of som sort, regarless, the significant difference of torque is obvious, so car for car, FD should be faster with the same driver. This is all stock out of factory of course.

i saw the numbers soemwhere of a 05 Rx8 doing 14.0, the same as the Fd's factory 1/4 mile. And the auto rx8 makes alot less power, than the manual ive heard. Alot of peeps just say its slow, when it makes almost as much power as the FD without the twins. But it is underpowered and needs more tq because its 200lbs heavier than the Fd. To me i think a Rx8 could do some damage on the streets...if in the right hands.

Boost controller, exhuast. = mid to low 13's on the fd, then it blows up.

RX8= Stock with wheels cause you don't have enough to turbo it.

But I do know. Worked on an fd for like 2 months. Pain in the ass.

Every FD i've been around has been on motor number 3 or 4.

I like them but shit they are unreliable. Proven time and time again. Even the people that baby them and have huge radiators and tune after every mod have said sometimes it just happens.

Sometimes I read threads on nopistons.net for fun.

Ive seen magazines that had rx8s running 15 sec 1/4 mile times. Even on the rx8 forums, the broken-in and well driven stock ones typically run mid 14's. Bolt-ons are almost useless. Even the greddy turbo kit ones with street tuning run mid-high 13's. Thats sad.
With enough money, anything can be made somewhat fast, but youre talking about an expensive turbo kit, fuel, computer, etc, etc to go low 13's/high 12's.
On a lighter note, the cars drive amazingly well overall, but not being able to outrun a housewife in a bmw 3-series sucks.

Daaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmm. I murder those things. Pretty much any bimmer w/out the letter M gets its ass handed to it. Only 3 series that I cant touch is the e46 M3, the rest are pretty much nothing stock. Great handling though, I guess...

Ironically, the "final straw" for my frustration with the rx8 was when a housewife in a BMW 330 ci was able to beat me to 50 mph from a light (she was smiling the whole time too, the bitch.) She would have kept molesting me probably, but I gave up. Granted I didnt do a high-rpm launch, which *might* have made the difference, but I rolled off it hard and gave it all it had, and she was still about 1.5 car on me. I decided right then and there that it wasnt going to cut it.
Those things run mid-low 14's in magazines. I dont know how good she was at driving, but it was a manual, and she was good enough.

haha- that gave me a good laugh. I have driven a few 330 six speeds at work, and they are pretty decent. I would almost get one before I would get an M3. Its more than powerful enough, and with the sport package, you could avoid paying your soul for insurance.
