they'd get the same gas mileage as any diesel dump truck if not better considering it's less weight

wow that pic made me wonder how you would go about mounting a tire on a wheel/tire combo that big.

It involves a duckbill sledge hammer and a specialty tool (or two 36in pry bars that are specially made for changing these tires). They are changed on the ground and tires can only be mounted and dismounted from the backside of the rim. It is tricky at first and if you dont learn how to use leverage to your advantage it will work the shit out of you. I use to change tractor trailer tires, as well as consruction and agriculture equipment tires everyday. I use to drive a service truck and had to change them onsite.

Hey man I'm not trying to start anything with you, but we try not to post any nudity without posting a "Not Work Safe" warning, so people who are looking on here while at work do not get in trouble. Its a courtesy that we pass along to everyone.

most tires over a certain size are 2 piece wheels...all you gotta do is undo the bolts and seperate the wheel then put the wheel with a new gasket around the new tire and tighten down the bolts and fill it with air

^what they classified under (epa wise)? it can't be pickup truck...can it?

Cliff
04-27-2005, 11:26 PM
i believe they are registered as commercial trucks considering it's essentially a dump truck...and i assume you need a cdl to drive it....i dunno...i passed a red CXT last week on i20 and they are sick trucks.....the shop next to our warehouse builds custom boxes and beds for f550's, f650's, kodiak 4500's internationals all kinds of stuff....i go and sneak into the cabs....they sit like 2 feet off the ground stock....awesome trucks....

if you're talking about the truck in the original picture, they have large forklift type machines that cradles the tire and lifts it up and moves it forward onto the hub.

as for mounting the tires on the rims, those tires are generally solid rubber so the rim comes apart and just gets bolted back together around the tire.

The MXT is one sick looking truck, I would drive it as a tow vehicle, but only after I get a vehicle that is trailer worthy.
