I have heard a few different ideas about how much you are supposed to spend on a ring, just wanted to hear some people from here? Where did you go?

Zales b/c my wife wanted the signiture Zales Diamond; which at the time had more facets then any other diamond out.

but i would say go to Shane Co. they have the best selection of diamonds and rings... i would of purchased hers from there if they carried what she wanted. when i went they brought out a case of diamonds for me to look at and the lady just left giving me time to look over everything i was like  but my experience there was good. they have everything and more :goodjob:

I went to taras fine jewerly in buford, well its cause my wifes uncle owns it. SO I got a 2 carat center stone with .50 carat on each side and small diamonds going down the ring on each side for cheap.

Shane's Company has really great warrantys on their diamonds.. I have diamonds from there and I have had the greatest experience with them so far. Plus if I ever wanted to trade my earrings in I could and upgrade or put it towards something else..

I got my fiances ring at Solomon Brothers. I have tho agree with Ren they are one of the few I would even consider dealing with. If you go ask for Anthony hes one of the brothers.

Chris Ill PM you, I think you are probally going to be shopping in the same range as I was.

I bought mine at bluenile.com. I looked at all the stores mentioned in this thread, had decided on exactly what I was getting (Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat). A couple of people at work had bought from there, and then I happen to hear Clark Howard talk about them so I decided to check it out. I'm not kidding it was 33% cheaper than Shane Co (which had the best deal locally), and it was exactly the same 4C's. It came with an GIA certificate, and it appraised for twice what I paid for it. I had bought from Shane a few times for presents, but blue nile will get my business from now on.

My wife doesnt own or wear an engagement ring. Total cost ZERO, which is about what the whole engagement/wedding ring thing is worth in my opinion. ;)

I have bought all of my fiance's jewelry from the Shane Co.

The engagement/wedding ring was expensive, but you only do it once, right!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Brett again.
I don't recall ever giving rep to Brett. Funny. I just randomly clicked on the icon and got the message. Anyways, thanks for the input, I have narrowed the selection down, and have figured exactly what four C's I will purchase,...if I purchase. Gracias.
