Bought a 02 R1 yesterday. Too good of a deal to pass up. Never wrecked, never wheelied, Micron CF high mount already on it, Fabre. screen, flush mounts, undertail, etc. VERY cheap. Only catch is that the bike has 8k miles on it.

5 min after committing to buy it, I went ahead and called to get a set of Marchesini wheels, a new pari of Metzler M1's, SS sprocket, Brembo brake kit, and GPR damper - all for very, very cheap. Only need the 02 R1 GPR bracket and the R1 mounting brackets for the Brembos. Hope to have all of the parts by next weekend and on a week after that. I'm going to repaint the Marchesini's a different color first.

Now for the downside: I spent my extra car money on the extras for the bike, so can't get all of the toys for my car this year. Instead of Tein coilvers, I have to get H&R springs, instead of my Xenarc 700, I have to stick with my Pioneer, etc. Luckily, I already have the car's repainting paid for, so I will still get the outside together this year. But no new motor or performance items this year for it. Had to make a trade-off.
As a side note, I'm also in the doghouse with my wife, but is that a downside or is that normal?

congrats....sounds like you really threw down alot of money on a bunch of aftermarket parts....why do you want to paint the wheels those?

They are black right now, not the original gold. I'll strip them down and repaint them back to the original color.

These are the wheels. They are coming off this bike and going on mine. Just the plain 5 spokes.

hmm, I don't have any wheelie problems with the R1 .... must be a throttle control issue..... :-P

However, Sung has problems keeping the front wheel down on his R1.
