What is the difference in the two? Which is better? Or are they both suitable? Thanks. Later, QD.

each one has there own bonuses. what purpose are you going to be using it for? from what i've heard, if it's movies and such that your going to be playing on a DVD player, DVD- is the way to go... thats what i use anyways. not sure about data/games.

All new ones, anyways. Older ones will only take - media, but I don't remember the reason for + media.

DVD+ is a newer format that gives a slight, yet unoticable diffrence in definition. DVD- is the older format of the two it holds the same amount of space 4gb or 120min, and is still the current standard in dvd's. Now in dvd recorders pre-2002 most recorded in the - format however HP and Sony Dvd oem recorders in their PCs were DVD+ recordable only. DVD players it goes like this "most" dvd players pre 2003 only played back -R format. Now in 2006 all recorders do (+-) all players play (+-). But if you plan on bootlegging or sellign dvd's your best choice in format would be the -R.

basically DVD -r is single layer and better for movies that you play in your dvd player, and or burned copies of PS2 games and +r is multiple layers, newer, higher capacity capability better for data storage.
