They will be not using it once they retire the shuttle program in 5 more years and now they only plan to launch 3-4 times a year so it leaves the runway unused most of the year.

They're not through with space exploration. They are just going to do some readjustments and redesigns of the program. Later, QD.

Reading is key I believe. According to CNN and NASA "After the shuttle's retirement, the next-generation space vehicle will return to Earth by parachute." Therefore eliminating the need for a huge ass landing strip.

They are going back to a older way of thinking. They will be going back to a Apollo styple rocket, one that will not be re-usable and will land in the ocean like back in the 60's-70's. They are doing away with the shuttle all togther. It has become to expensive to maintain, and after the 2nd shuttle loss, the government decided that it was to risky of a machione to fly after the space station is complete. To me I find it to be bullshit. To me the machine was not meant to sit on th eground and rot, its built to go to space and do a job. Sad day it will be when they retire them. Atlantis is set to be retired in 2 years then the phase out will begin.

I agree, and with being that close to Orlando, you could prolly bring in some good profits. If you really decide to do this, I will go in 50/50 with you. For real, with proper advertising/marketing, it could be HUGE. The location is perfect, just gotta watch out for the hurricanes!

Think about it, $50 a piece, 100 people, rent is paid for. Internet marketing/word of mouth = free advertising. Cost to us, only the initial $5,000, no problem.

Potential, with the turnouts of NOPI, and all of that other stuff, could easily attract 500 people, and oh yeah, Professional video taping of the whole event. Sell the videos like hot cakes in every retial store across America.

All of this = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm in, for sure.

hell yea, lets do it, 5 grand a day really isnt that bad i guess. How good of shape is the runway in? I would imagine pretty decent since it was recently used by NASA.

Brett
03-20-2006, 07:24 PM
The runway has to be in mint shape, They land a 100 Million dollar machine on it a few times a year on its return from space.
