I was at pleasant hill last night around 930-10 o clock range. I was just drivin and i switched lanes and this car FLIES up on my butt. I see the fogs and notice its an is300. So i just kinda go at traffics pace and next thing i know i hear a turbo spool and PSST! bam hes past me. So i attempt to keep up with him and all i can hear from like 50 ft back is a LOUD turbo spoolin. This guy was not even attempting to go and he was pwning me. It was a graphite colored lexus is300 with chrome? wheels, lowered, exhaust, and turbo of course. An asian guy was driven it with a plate from Michigan. Does anyone know this guy or is he on here?

why would a turbo is300 pick on a spec V?

1. i wasnt racing 2. that extra gear means nothing to me. I believe torque and hp can play a large difference. I didnt say honda eitehr i said CIVIC. Plus i started this to see who this guy was not to get hated on. So if we could use this thread for its intended purpose it would be appreciated. If you want to hate start a new thread.

Depends on what the "N/A" Civic in question has done to it. I've had my ass handed to me in my old Maxima by a EG hatch with a B18C5 on the freeway. (The maxima went door to door with one of those new VW R32s on the freeway just the other night, so it's pretty peppy)

liek i said guys we can go all day about this discussion. There are 1 million civics in this area. Yea maybee it has a type R motor in it? maybee only just a b18b? regardless im just saying a stock bolted civic with the factory motor has nothing. I honestly would never drive a civic. I would take a 240 over one any day, but I did not make this thread to thrash cars though. I made it to see who this guy was to see what he has on his car. So like i said just stop talkin about me and talk about this is300 or just stay off of here.

ya i ran a stock is300 in my then N/a Protege and pulled on it up to 4th gear...but never even seen a boosted one. i wouldnt try if i did find one though. i had my biggest "my car aint shit" eye opener when i tryed to keep up with what i thought was an R32.. ended up it was a twin turbo'd GTi VR6.. needless to say i didnt have a chance.
and the civic thing.. ya i thought they were crap for the longest time and bashed them every chance i got. till last month i went out to Gwinnett fairgrounds and rode in a 290whp EG hatch set up for Auto x (Turbo'd LS VTEC) ya that thing just plain hauled ass!!!

il drive up there next fri night tho
that guy was takin it down some road off the main stretch and i knew i coulda been right up there with the guy on that curvy road, maybee even drive up his ass!! LOL

Id like to see that car as well, i usually see alot of cheap ass civics and such, seeing a clean and fast car is still special!

There are 1 million civics in this area.

and about 250,000 of them are swapped. might want to watch what you say, before someone makes you feel silly.

everyone knows a "stock" civic isn't balls.

but because there are so many, and their possible modifications so plentiful, there are also a lot of phast civics in this area. so don't be so silly.

theres a white IS300 w/CF hood and trunk whos lives near where I do, and he's supercharged I believe... He runs around with a white Prelude and S2K both with CF hoods and trunks. (looking at them is teh seks.)

Yep, that's me. And yes I did get different wheels since then. I don't really like Mustang dynos. Some people love them. They are supposed to be more accurate, although on that day it said I had 575ft-lbs of torque  .....umm, I wish. ;)

It was at the Body Plex in Buford. Traffic Jams put it on so a few of us couldn't compete in the show part of it. It was a pretty cool smaller show.

It's been a while since I last dyno'd on a regular dyno, but during tuning sessions back then I did 378rwhp and 350 something torque @ 6psi. Have no clue what it would be today exactly though. I'd imagine somewhere near there. Certainly NOT the 575 ft-lbs that mustang dyno said.

I dunno. Some people swear by that kind of dyno because it adjusts based on actual vehicle weight as opposed to the standard dyno which uses a fixed 2000lbs. Not sure. Just know that 575 torque is wayyyy wrong for me. The HP numbers weren't completely off the reservation bad, but were considerably lower (3 something, but much lower than 378). I can't remember now.

It's no biggie. I had fun and that's all that matters really.

bigb996
04-27-2005, 02:07 PM

Not sure on the turbo side. But i know it has a upgraded 5 speed and a few other tricks. He says its has around 6~8 psi.

When guys talk about power adders and racing them untuned.I kind of loose interest in the conversation if you know what i mean.

Jaimecbr900-i have to agree with you on the mustang dynos. They are GREAT for tuning because they similate the street .But if they have the wrong inputs they can throw numbers WAY off ,like in your case.It has been seen that some under hand peaple use the MD'd to inflate their numbers to help sell their products.

Couldnt tellyou how much on blower alone.I went from a bolt on n/a car to built motor and blower overnight(spent two years building the drivetrain before i installed it).So there wasnt any piece left that couldnt take the power.
For those that think haveing power doesnt go to your head..My car in a few easy steps
1) n/a 270rwhp
2) built motor w/blower @ 10psi-463rwhp
3) maf change ,bigger injectors(old ones maxed @ 100% duty cycle)-480rwhp
4) pulley change(14 psi)-555rwhp
5)blower upgrade ,same pulley (18~19psi)-621rwhp

All this in just over two years..Sad thing is you get use to it.Thats why i switched poweradders(vortech to a kenne bell) ..New setup will add a LOT of lower end torque and still keep my hp.She should break 600rwhp on 15psi on this setup and over 700 on race fuel (15 psi) :D

Im sure a few guys i know go to the events, they also post on here.Ive never been to one. With the car down,it takes the fun out of any meets..But she will be back up in a few weeks then she will be around :goodjob:

Commerce SUCKS.The track prep is poor.ANd to race on friday night would mean a 1.5~2 hour trip in traffic maybe 5~6 passes at the track because of the crowds and then a 2 hour trip home(live on the south side).

Exactly. I know that you can manipulate a mustang dyno pretty easily vs a dynojet one. I know that the numbers it spit out for me that day were way off. I was just doing it for giggles, so it wasn't a big deal to me. I'm exactly like you; tune on one dyno so you know what the differences are. All this driving around to find the dyno that "says" I'm higher than the last one just to have a higher number is stupid IMO. Besides, most of the time numbers are only that...numbers. As long as your happy with your own car, that's what counts. Cars should be built for the owner's liking and not to out do the other guy.

Cars should be built for the owner's liking and not to out do the other guy. Yea but you know just like i do.THere are those that build cars to "beat" other cars .So they can say they beat so and so.

hey bro.. it was me. just found out about this site and thread. and yeah, i wasn't racing you either, just accelerating fast. i rarely get to drive it since i work about 70 hours a week and live less than half a mile from work. so when i do get to pleasure of driving, i definitely drive it!

and for those questioning what i have done... seems like some of you know already.. t-64, lowered compression, etc etc..... 6 lbs - 283 rwhp. and no, it isn't tuned. but in my defense, it does have a base tune with an extremely rich map. so im not a complete idiot for having a little fun with it. :goodjob: but it will be going back to AAP for a few more mods and a good tune at various boost levels.

as for the juice... its still there but i wont be using it any time soon. maybe after i do a tranny swap.. but until then.. no juice, just boost.

and to those who know me, thanks for blurtin out where i work. very kind of you. im surprised you didn't just tell the world my home address too. thanks.

Does anyone know this guy or is he on here?

yes.. it does matter. its not a secret, but id rather not let people know where they can find my car. :goodjob: thank again buddy!

and why must you be so sarcastic? do you even know how much i spent? why do you even care so much?

and for 6lbs, 283 rwhp isn't bad for not being fully tuned.

I dont care thats it  .I Just hate seeing peaple throw away good money .Thats why the harping on a tune. Why kill something if you can prevent it.IF the car dies it could take out good parts that could have been reused. But i guess a majority of the guys ive seen rather kill it then have a reason to upgrade instead of doing it right the first go around.

As far as finding the car.If someone wanted to steal it .They will find it anyhow, anyway all they have to do is follow the car...Thats why you you have insurance to cover your mods and the car.Hell parking at the mall or at a store can get the car stolen if someone wanted it..

white99gt,

you are probably right about if someone wanted to, it would happen. i've had alot of bad luck with cars and have become very paranoid about certain things regarding my IS... im sure anyone who has been car jacked, had a car stolen, broken into etc can understand.

as for tuning, its going back to AAP tonight for tuning and finishing up on some of my other parts.
