Me (516 RWHP '03 Cobra) Vs. Crafty's Camaro claiming 370 RWHP

Was out Sat. night with my friend Jeff with his KB Cobra (Hydroshutter) and a C6 Z06 and ran into a pretty mean sounding Camaro claiming it was a 346 c.i. and 370 RWHP with a 4,000lb race weight.

Anyways, I ran him in my car (516 RWHP) and he got me by about 1 car. Jeff, Brad and I all called BS on him only having 370 to the ground, but he kept insisting it was just that. I weighed in on the same scale at Silver Dollar Dragway at 3735lbs with me in it and 1/2 tank of gas.

The Camaro would need about 550 RWHP to run like he did against me if he does weigh 4,000lbs.

I ran the '02 Z06 (catback only) after I ran the Camaro, just to illustrate how much I pull a 370 RWHP car that weighs less than the Camaro, I had ~4-5 cars on the Z06 by ~120 MPH.

The C6 Z06 pulled ~1.5 cars on the Camaro from 40-120.

The races, I was shifting slow, don't want to destroy my 44k mile stock clutch (run whatchee brung though!) haha.

The C6 Z06 did not run the Trans Am in the last race, that was the C5 Z06. I made a mistake with the video editing and don't feel like going back to change it.

Just to let you guys know, I have the C6 Z06. I had not planned on running the Camaro when it happened, we were supposed to go on the way back. So I was stuttering when we were slowing down to line up. I'd slow down, then thought we were pulling off, speed up, then thought I'd run, slow down......heh

Anyway, that's why I was half a car ahead at the beginning of the race. Other than that, everything seemed pretty legit.

Also, in the video.......it's the C5 Z06 running the Trans Am at the end, not me. I ONLY ran against the white Camaro that night.

We were waiting on the cobra guys to post their videos. Figured it'd be better quality. The camera wasn't on for night and it came out pretty black. And they did. But if it is a big deal to some, here is the link for craft against the cobra that we took.

That 119 trap is too fast for a 4,000lb car with 370RWHP, but slow for a 500+ RWHP 4,000lb car.

I ran a 118 MPH trap with 450 RWHP with my 3735lb race weight before I did the ported blower. I ran 92 MPH in the 1/8th on that run as well.

I'm 99% sure that Crafty was spraying a good bit of nitrous in our race.

Not complaining that I lost, it's run what you brung; but I would like him to be up front about his mods.

I'm glad you found that time sheet. Because when i spray, my 1/8 mile times are at 7.5/7.6 @ 98/99mph not 8.1@ 90.52.. with a 2.0 60ft. that 7.6 was on my old setup.. I added a bigger cam, stall converter, and other little things. Even more proof that i wasn't spraying...

I love how there is a big shit because a car won the race which has less horsepower, its a atomatic fucksticks its not going to dyno as much to the wheels. Here is what i dont get.. I have raced both of these cars from a roll on the street. When rick and i raced, i would get the jump and pull a very small amount...that was before the ported blower. When i raced craft with the 75 shot i pulled him pretty hard... Then when i raced craft with the ??? shot at higher psi he pulled out a car on me from the jump and stayed ahead just like in the race against him and the cobra. Craft said the car dynoed 370 before the nitrous.... so without nitrous crafts car would not stand a chance against the cobra..... Just my 2cents

Ok Here's The Story THAT I WAS GONNA ASK RON ABOUT, So About 6 Months Ago I Had Rp Motorsports Install My Engine, In The Process I Paid Them To Put A New Oil Pump On The Engine Before They Installed It.... My Engine Now Has Between 8000-9000 Miles.. Friday Night A Friend Of Mine And I Started To Do A Cam Swap On My Car. As We Pulled The Timing Cover Off We Noticed That The Oil Pump Was Stained Almost Black. And We Knew That They Don't Get That Dark That Quick.. So The Next Morning He Ran The Part Number On The Oil Pump And It's A 98 Pump Which Is The Same Year As My Car. Also I Remembered That There Is A Small Dent In The Side Of The Oil Pump Housing From It Falling Off My Table (part Of The Reason Why I Wanted A New One), And That Same Dent Is On The One On My Car. Ok I Could Go Many Ways With This... What Do Ya'll Think I Should Do?

Yeah, I don't powershift my car on the stock clutch, which has seen 40k miles with 450+ RWHP. That's probably the reason it's lasted so long, but it'll probably go in the not too distant future. I'll powershift with the new one; probably going with a MMR RBT700.

I think you need to go back to jiffylube and work. An automatic is a heavier drivetrain which will read only on the dyno less power than it actually makes.Also automatics are faster cars. I don't know of anybody that can shift faster than an automatic.

I guess if you do not know shit about cars than you wouldn't understand what I meant. I didn't mean a physical weight on the transmission. A 6-speed weighs more physically than an auto in an f-body. I work on these damn cars everyday you can pick up a automatic by hand but a 6 speed is more difficult to pick up because of weight. Who are you anyways?? What type of car do you have??

Wow this thread got out of hand.

1) If Crafty won, then he won, whether he has nitrous or not only he knows. I agree with SPeedmonkey, had you raced for MONEY and the race was based upon parties sharing info, then Crafty was shady.

HOWEVER, that was NOT the case, it was a RUN for FUN, so , Crafty could have said i have 200whp and if he won, well, thats just the way he does things.

2) Automatics WILL DYNO LOWER ON A DYNO. that does not mean they are SLOWER than a manual. Espeically with Domestics that have transmissions designed to handle the power, they arent comparable to wimpy Honda Automatics. Basically, if his car is an auto an dynoes 370whp, the drivetrain an load losses will show up on the dyno. The dyno reads (dynojet) by the speed at which the roller is turning , RPM calculates the TQ. Roller speed calculates HP, RPM calculates TQ. essentially all dynos only read TQ and convert it to HP. His car may make weak numbers on the dyno, but be much faster in person or on the road do to more load and shifting is faster with autos than the manual, on domestics IMO
