My buddy lost his car today due to fire that the track officials "didnt notice". At Year Ones qualifying today, my buddys SS camaro ran a STRONG run, (10.6**) and at the finish had a pop sound come up from the bay. When he turned off the track, he saw smoke. Where theres smoke.....YUP. Fire. He jumped out leaving the car 50 ft off the track, where it sat and slowly burned while the safety safari did NOTHING. The small flme got bigger and bigger. Another racer finally got a cell phone, called someone at the stands, they ran and got an official, who called the tower, who then made a P.A. announcment to get the safety team down there. Once arrived, the car was completely melted to the interior. Burned through the fire wall. Dont need to say what fire does to an Aluminum motor do I?
After a man dying there last year due to thier incompitence (Running over thier own fire hose and breaking it outta the truck) and the man burning to death...what more will it take to get a GOOD crew there.
This is now dangerous beyond normal racing.

Damn, How many people do they have to let die there or cars get destroyed before they take the shit serious?

I am sorry for your friend
I guess that you have to sign a waiver so they are not responsible....
If it happened to me I would be like this

Yah, Jeffery, He has an old civic project than ran 12.4s 3-4 yrs ago, and the SS that did 10.6 on the fire run, and a 240 waiting on a swap.
Word on the street is the civic may be FS soon. If you wanna cx h/b w/ a built LS.....

i know the track is now under new management, so i'm sure there will be tons of changes throughout the season there.

Unless thats trap speeds, who cares. EVO=SLOW unless your name is Tracy ;)

I raped them all day long in my all motor CRX on the highway. From a dig, go look at the team octane video where an SRT4 gives several EVOs the BUSINESS at the track.

BTW, sorry jeffrey, glad you made it out ok, and if you need anything, you know SRZ is here , me jenson and john are more than willing to help out

Man that sux. Hopefully they get some changes.
Whats up with that evo guy? I guess thats why the STi would be my first choice, and the Evo second.

Umm... so what's the reason why? ... because you like to stereotype evo drivers based on one person? And besides, how does someone you not like driving a car have anything to do with the car itself? I'd drive a Lamborghini Diablo, even if Bin Laden drove one himself... get my point?

Yeah it was a joke. I love evos they are more capable then the STi. I just think that the STi has more potential in the longrun for use as both a showcar and a weekend racer, it just looks a little better. But in all actuallity if you gave me $30000 to spend on a car I would get an EVO cause I wouldnt be able to afford an STi.

Dam evo ego, I'd love to race him with my machine, it only has 162bhp at the tire but it also only weighs like 400lbs

Heres a pic;

The news isnt so bad in the end. It is totalled. It can be bought back VERY inexpensively. Numerous people and manufacturers who heard of this are giving parts for a complete rebuild. It will take alot of labor, even though it doesnt look bad, its been smoked out, completely soaked.....but is ready for 9s now.

I bet his camaro was nice. That's so bad that they didn't do anything. Tell your friend I said sorry about his car. I just love camaros. I have a 2004 mustang. I had a camaro, it was my first car I ever owned. I loved it so much. It was a 1979 camaro black.
