Who rocks a scanner in their car? I've always had one since i could legally drive, just wondering who uses one? Did you install a base unit or just use a portable/handheld?

How about a list of police frequencies? I used to have one I made of nearly every department from Metro Atlanta up to Tenn. & N. Carolina...I've since lost the file and have only been able to find a few cities/counties.

I'll post up my pics and fequencies with 10-code(s) & Signal lists later...

I miss high school.lol, my old roommate or friends used to call me when they'd hear my car or bikes description on it or if a cop would randomly run my plate (they used to sit and hide and call peoples plates in, normally when they couldn't catch anyone doing anything wrong...yep, it's illegal but they do it anyways)...good times :D

one of my Ex Girlfriends roomates boyfriend had one.... it was a Trunking scanner, we would listen to the KSU police channel when we through parties in her dorm room. One night we accually heard a call sent in that we were being to loud and was able to get everyone out.

It was just a 10-22 with a 50rd. clip i modified the trigger on a lil to make it easier to fire :) That was my squirrel hunting gun, sited the scope in for 40 yards using high velocity bullets and used to sniper them with a perfect head shot every time.

I'm now running nearly all Gwinnett Co. frequencies but about to upgrade to a better base model so i can put all of them in and have a few more features.

Hey Speedminded where did u get your scanner from?Picked that one up from a pawn shop...they wanted $45 and got it for $25. One important rule in pawn shops...always ask how much they need out of an item (you know they didn't pay crap for it to begin with) then still offer them even less. It's all about bargaining with them.

you can print out all the codes and what they mean if thats your problem. i was thinking about getting a handheld bc i wasn't sure how to go about wiring one up in a car.... does it just play on the stereo speakers?

scangwinnett has a pretty good list of all the codes for those interested.

scangwinnett has a pretty good list of all the codes for those interested.Alot are using multiple frequencies for send and receive so unless you have a crazy fast scanner you won't hear both the dispatch and officer.

Georgia State Patrol 10-codes page I made like 6 years ago (most departments are similiar but Athens is completely differant)

I had one in my car for a while, but donated it to my dad's car about a year ago...The next one will have digital trunking...not much use in the older ones without it.

I bought mine at radio shack, it's called Weather Alert. It looks like a big walki-talki, and it's very portable.
