Okay, I have had my DECAH Lambo kit on the car just a few weeks, and it was cold as shit yesterday and for the photoshoot we had to put the doors up and down quite a few times, But at the end of the day I tried to put the door back up and the door wasnt holding up, then finally when I got home and tried to lift it, it was like a dead weight. I assume the shock went out ( Spend money for the best kit on the market and this shit happens..lol ) Now I am gonna try and get a replacement shock ( I assume thats what the issues is ) Does anyone know if I can just swap out the shocks without having to take the whole fender and shit off, now that its on the car can I just have someone swap them out? Is it easy to do?

Thanks, Yeah I know Decah like VD Inc are the 2 best names out there, so I was not expecting the shock to go out this quick, but im sure they will stand behind it.

Gosh Brett, i told you what would happen if it got cold and you had your door up, the cold causes strain on the shock, now i suggest when you take teh shock off, dont use vice grips or anything, decah will check for any marks on teh shock, if there is, they will not replace it under the warranty, you have to buy a new shock.
Have you tried opening the door in a warmer surrounding?

It worked fine all day till the last set up then it was over. I am guessing it woulr probably work in warmer weather but there is no reason for it not to work when it is cold outside.

i was told the cold put compression on the air shock, im no scientist so i dont know, all i know is not to keep teh door up in harsh cold weather LIRL

I don't know since that is a side of the scene I never got into but I mean if a lambo door works in cold weather then a kit designed after them should work in cold weather :dunno: I just like normal opening doors

Well it was pretty easy to lift but it would not hold it self up at all. As soon as you let go it would just drop (we never let it do that). And he said it felt like dead weight when he got home so I would imagine that it is gone, but who knows :dunno:

yeah, but i doubt it would go out that fast, he just had it installed.
but if it feels like he's pushin the door up by hiimself, with no air shock help, and it never stays up, then its out

Well if it was worse when he got home than it was at the shoot then I would say so, lol. Just give me normal doors :lmfao:

well Brett, you can pay teh extra money to overnight it, and extra money to overnight it back, but it took me a while to get a new one back.
now you can take the shock off w/o taking off the fender, you just have to have someone strong hold the door up far enbough to where the shock comes out that hole, then you or someone else take the shock off the other piece of metal....basically the piece on the main piece of the hinge, if you want, you can call me and i'll talk ya'll thru it

Can it be the shock cam eout of its hole, maybe I pushed to far at one point and it came out?

well yeah...that would be a first LIRL, does the door come right down, i mean real fast, and when you open the door, does it feel like the weight of the whoooolle door, i mean even with a busted shock, teh door is heavy but not as heavy without a shock

Brett

Yeah when I lift the door, Its like a dead weight now, Now just before that at the shoot, It went up nice and smooth but it just came right back down ( Couldnt hol ditself up ) Then when I got home and tried to open it, I has fighting the full weight of the door, and yeah if I let it drop now, it woul come down real fast im sure with as heavy as it is now.

might be the shock came out the hole then, even when my shock went out, it wasnt that bad, i could still keep teh door up with one hand, but when i took the shock out and had to open it, i had to use 2 to keep teh door up......here is what i would do, take the 2 middle bolts off the fender and look inside or if you dont want to do that, just look between the crease when someone opens the door to see if the shock is going in the joint, imma gon see if i can find a diagram of the shock and show you where to look
also, if you want, i can try and take pics of mine and where to look when i go to lunch at 12:00

I need DECAH shocks though, Other brands wont have the thead pattern I need to bolt and screw right in.

YokotaS13
02-27-2006, 07:55 PM
why not find a bolt that threads in where the shock does, and get some universal shocks with eyelets on the ends, and bolt it in?

it isnt that hard from whati have seen. However, the shocks are NOTORIOUS for going out , on any companies doors. i have seen them go out on Vertical Doors, and others.

hopefully it was just a defective shock

Yeah I have one coming over night tomorrow being sent out so I will have it Friday. I hope this doesnt happen again anytime soon. I will then send the bad one back to see if they will cover it under warranty.

Has there ever been anyone who didn't have a problem with keeping their doors up with these kits? I remember back in the day, when Austin from ECI got his, he had problems with the shocks from like day one, but that was one of the first kits ever made. It was Decah, btw

i had the very first version of decah too, i didn't have any problems, only when it was cold, if it was cold and the shocks werent new, the door would start to slowly come down, but if you help it up for a second, it would stay...unless it was reaaalllyyy cold, then it usually just keeps falling.
