With $20k, import a '98-00 Toyota Altezza RS200 Z-edition [comes with the 6 speed transmission & 2 liter BEAMS 3S-GE dual VVT-i engine, 210hp stock)] priced around 1 million yen...i've seen them for $10-14k USD and roll on roll off shipping is $500-800 (a shipping container usually runs $1,200 or so plus dock fees for use of the cranes).
Mods:
1) Tein RA or HA Coil-Over Dampeners - $1,500-2k
2) Modified 3SGTE turbo kit for the 3SGE, 300whp - $3,500-5k
3) Standalone or FC Commander - $1,200 (probably get an entire kit built for $5k including the computer setup)
4) Powder coat the factory wheels black or graphite - $150-200
5) Tire Sponsor
M5 eater for $20k :D

DSMlink isn't that expensive, and I wouldn't build the tranny until it breaks, plus I figured high on some of the prices. ;)
...and a carbon fiber driveshaft would save a good amount of weight.

aluminum driveshaft if you did it.
a 1g with a 2900lb clutch and 500 hp, breaks the first run.

NOT, if you come off the line soft and use nitrous to spool the turbo. :goodjob: Just a little trick of the trade.

Still go boom, like everyone is saying high compression is bad for boost. Thats why a stock Zetec can take more boost with is craptastic internals, than my SVT which has forged rods and high compression. The high compression increases the risk of detonation by a lot. And that in turn destroys pistons and rings. Just my .02

True but isnt the only real advantage for high compression and boost is quicker spool up? Which is nice, but can you run like 500 hp with that kind of set up? And the trade off is you run less boost? So wouldnt it be better to run lower compression and higher boost for more horsepower? Or am I wrong? I'm by no means a tubro expert, just learn what I've read and seen first hand.

I'm not even clicking the link. lol I know what it is. the red laser fwd from goodwill they got for like 200 bucks or whatever.
after 2 weeks of racing they bought a TRE tranny. and they break shit every time they go to the track(block, linkages, clutches, forks,) so......
yeah that car is still around and has a ton done to it now.
ANYWAY you wanted a 10 sec AWD, that's more stress than a fwd with slicks.
So good try, but find me that......

They didn't have major issues with stuff breaking, but they did have a couple minor issues with the turbo, wastegate, and low compression on the motor.
The turbo was replaced with a ported 14b, the wastegate was adjusted or replaced(I think), and the motor was freshened up.
All in all, not bad for as cheap as it was.

Oh no its fast for what it was. But read on about all the linkages and forks they broke.... i think its like the new plymouth site or new laser site from one of those links. He posts on dsmtalk and he said he put fulcrum, shift forks and input shafts from TRE after the first pass, I dont know if thats on the website but whatever thats from memory.
