Ok i'm bored wiht just having a regular prefab box sitting in my trunk. I'm going to spice it up a little bit with a custom box. i was browsing around looking at different set ups and i was really liking some. SO here are some pics of my trunk: (only differance now is that instead of that crappy Infinity amp i am a Hifonics amp on the side. Its like 2/3 the length of that Infinity.

I wanna do something like this:

Intead of having the amp on the outside part ofthe false wall, maybe have it behind some plexiglass(sp) or something of that sort. Also i'd want to still be able to access my spare tire so maybe a hinged door infront of the false wall? Whatcha think?

What if you did this. Since you already have the box for the subs just keep it centered. Then build a trim piece that goes OVER the sub box and fits to the sides of the trunk same as the install you posted. Since your subs are not flush mounted currently adding the piece of MDF on top of them would still look fine. This would save you from rebuilding the new enclosures. Plus with seperate enclosures like shown above you would have to make sure they are both EXACTLY the same volume or your will experience some cancelation.

As for the amp you could then do a hinged false floor for the amp so you still have access to the tire. Or you could try and build it to one of the sides of the trunk. Just make a flush fitting piece for the side, cut it out mount the amp behind it, maybe add some plexi and you would be good to go. If you have components in your car you could do the same with the crossovers on the other side so it looks more balenced.

Just an idea.

Yeah i've thought about keeping the box and leaving it the same. THe only thing is that i'm wanting to do some ported boxes instead of sealed. But it would be less of a hassle, and cheaper to just put the mdf over the box... hmmmmmmmmmmm

Typically, a ported box will have a larger overal volume of a sealed box...meaning the ported box will be larger in size. Louder (probably) but also bigger.
