I live in a horrible community that is pissing the crap out of me
Well a week ago I got a letter saying I rev my engine everyday in the morning and the neighboors are complaning about it. I also got another letter saying that we havent paid a fine.
Technically the security guards are not supposed to do that at all but we paid them 50 dollars for the ticket anyways. On the letter it says we havent paid it so I go down to the place where they are located and well I came in and she wasn't their. This is my fault and I take blame for it but I basically cussed these sales people out which was totally not meant for them. Im pissed off and I just dont like holding anger in and it was directed to them.
The reving engine part I only did once. ONCE IN THE MORNING!!! My car wouldnt start so I kind of gassed it a lil and I just went which is from like about like 3 weks. Now last week they complained to the home owner asscociation about me reving my engine and creating a disturbance in the morning. Let me tell you one thing. I leave in the AFTERNOON not in the mornings AFTERNOONS and same as this week. This is what the president said to me."Well all the neighboors know you are the only person with a suped up car and your the only asian kid here so they are complaining to you." You know who it is thought it my friend and he lives right across me. He has an F-150 with a Flowmaster Super 40 and he basically rumbles everyday in the morning. Im a say one thing straight before you start blaming someone do a little a lil research and find out who it is. My question do they have authority to tell me to take off my exhaust? I looked up in the Georgia State Codes and havent found anything.

HOA's have benefits and drawback just like everything else. With that said, some of them tend to be more of a hinderance to the enjoyment of your community.

I've been wondering, how long do you have to pay for the fees of the homeowner's association?
My neighborhood specifically built speed bumps for the guys with mufflers up here. heh.

Ya I cussed these sales people by accident really wasnt meant for them (mainly for the homeowner lady GET YOUR FREAKIN FACTS STRAIGHT NEXT TIME) but my dad is telling me to say sorry to them. Well I guess I better act straight tomrow.
that sucks man, but that's just how some subdivisions are. my neighbors are still convinced that i fly through the neighborhood. I won't speed through my neighborhood because the neighbors let their little kids play in the streets. it could be a scion xb cruisin 50 through the neighborhood and somehow my neighbors come up w/ my prelude speeding up and down the streets. why? because it's loud and looks fast.

just to add to the "my neighborhood is worse than yours" statement i said earlier. in less than 2 years that i've lived here, my car has been broken into twice, a next door neighbor was murdered in her kitchen, and the club house was lit on fire twice, it burned to the ground the 2nd time. and this isn't even in a "hood"... this is just a neighborhood with a bunch of single old women... go figure.

yea they really cant do anything to you. my neighbors use to complain all the time because of all the noise me and my friends make, ie car stereos (once had a guy walk from three streets over to complain), firecrackers, my lack of an exhaust, all kinds of crap. they stopped though when me and my friends played airsoft in the street in front of my house though. havent heard a word since then :) .

Actually, your wrong... My mom is actually in the HOA for our neighborhood  (it sucks). But they can legally tow your car away (i've seen it happen) if you fail to pay any of there fines/fees...

I've only seen them do it one time, and it was a dude that owed $1000 in association monthly fee's....
I always took the stance "fuck em... let em complain, thats all they can do" til I found out they really can take your car. oh well... i try and be as respectful as I can be... I mean my car is loud as hell, but I try and avoid sitting idling for too long or revving it, especially late at night/in the morning. Thats why I got the blazer so I can still leave at night lol. just sucks when the windows are frozen over and I gotta let it defrost heh.

Do you guys not read your home owners' association contracts? When you or your parents sign that contract, it binds you to the rules and regulations of the community. That, my friends, is why there are home owners' associatons. If you want to have more freedom, like being a shade-tree mechanic, having loud pipes, painting your house gaudy pink and purple, parking fifty cars in your driveway and lawn, having 5 families living in one home, then go and live in the country somewhere where there are no covenants! Be wary! You might not, however, get a great return on your investment!!!

way to bring back a dead thread. I believe we all understand why there is a association. my only problem with them is that it gives some members of the community too much power. (piss off the wrong people and it can be a real pain in the ass)

I feel ya on that. The past two weeks, i've had get-togethers in my house. Last weekend it was my birthday and this weekend i just wanted to have people over. The first time the cops came one time and this time they came twice. I don't know who the hell is calling because after the first time i talked to the only two neighbors that are within like 3 or 4 houses of me that i thought might complain and they were both away this time so they couldn't have called. I do live in a culdesac so theres lots of people kinda close... The first complaint this time was a noise complaint. THey said someone called and gave them our address so i'm pretty sure it was someone in the culdesac and not someone behind me... The second they said was a cab driver that called. I have no idea why the fuck a cab driver would call the cops on someone having a party. There were people outside in the front tho. I dunno. It just pisses me off. We were even trying to be quiet this time, keep the door closed for noise and all.. Why do people have to be suck fucks. I wish i knew who called... I'd have some words for them.

They can also put a lien on your house for any unpaid fines. I see it all the time at work...people get fined for stupid shit, they say the same thing you guys are saying "they're just an HOA...all they can do is complain, but can't do anything to me", then the people try to refinance or sell their house & can't do it without paying the fine. If the HOA wants their money, they can & will get it.

Maybe you guys should buy a vehicle with a larger displacement! Like a Supra, skyline, scoobie? They have a low rumble that's not that high in decibels. Not to mention they're a lot more fun to drive and don't sound like the neighborhood kid riding his bicycle with a poker card flapping in the spokes. Maybe also, as for the partying goes, become active in your HOA and be kind and friendly to the other members. Letting them know in advance that you are having a big party may make them see a better light in the situation, since you are considering them. Hell, INVITE THEM! That always makes a good impression! Or just say screw it, buy a motorhome and become a vagabond! ;) You know the old expression, "you attract more flies with honey than with vinegar." Or something like that.

dude i have cars at my house with 2.0, 2.4, and 2.8. the soobie has 2.5 right? neighbors dont like the 2.4 so what is your point? maybe you should just explain your thought a little better because it doesnt make much sense

zoborax your logic is flawed on multiple levels. it amazes me how ppl assume that if a house isnt in a "respectable neighborhood" that it isnt shit. every house ive lived at in the last 6 years ive been able to sit my car on rev limit if i want, ride my dirtbike up and down the road, have bon-fires, blare music, whatever.. and the property values of all the houses have only gone up. plus i cant see any of my neighbors unless i want to.
the day i sell one of my cars to make my neighbors happy will be the same day i shoot myself in the head.
