A buddy of mines is selling me his Eg coupe for cheap! that he hadn't register when he bought it =( Now he had lost the title so the car is not under his name and there is no way he can contact the seller because he got it off autotrader and was puchase almost 2 years from now. He told me all he need is to write me a bill of sales and go get me another title. The thing is that ,I don't get, how would that be proof that it's his car to the Tag office because he had no title and it's not registered under his name. Then I thought , why not I just goto the tag office and just say it's my car that I lost the title but my mom say if I take it, I might have to pay big fines because the tag is still on it and its not registered for almost 2years.... So Cheap Car + Fines is not cheap! but my other friends says, there will be no fines... So I don't know... Need some info plz!! THanx

What sound does the word tittle make when you type it. As for the title he would need to write the bill of sale as the previous owner since it was never really his car. Since the car was not properly deregistered the tax office will probably stick someone with the registration for the past 2 years. You'll only know when you try it.

the only thing you could honestly do is try to get an abandoned vehicle title for it... meaning the DMV tries to get a hold of the previous owner and if they don't pop up then they will issue you a title for it. otherwise, unless you can get a hold of the previous owner yourself and have them re-apply for a replacement title then have them transfer the title to you then you're up shit creek.

and yes, you WILL have to pay the back taxes on the car to register it... but two years of taxes on an EG isn't a horrible amount of cash, maybe ~$100. if the car is cheap enough and you can actually get a title for it then why not?
