thing is i am getting a list of all Toyota, mazda, mitsubishi, subaru, and nissan motors. i already have a honda motor list. i am try to compare something.

Its gonna require some research. Just the 4AGE series had several variations USDM as well as JDM. I don't know much about other toyota motors other than the ones I've owned.

^ i agree best way to learn about engine famuilies is to decode the name.
example 4a-gze
first letter is engine family gen, engine family,
then the options i.e. dohc, supercharge, fuel injection,
it gets more complicated as there are so many varients of the 4a motor

ge, fe are the heads, if gte is at the end of engine code, means turbo, is gze, supercharged.
Fe heads are for more fuel economy engines per say......
