I've got a P13 ECU and I'm having a problem putting in the chip. I've got the socket and the 74ac chip installed but there is no R54 socket anywhere. I'm used to it being paired with the J1 socket but under the J1 is an R63 socket. Since I haven't done this type of ECU before I figured I'd ask the honda gods here since I'm sure someone here has.

Can't you just rechip the old computer with the H22 chips to make it work with Vtec? I don't know if this is possible so someone please chime in and say yes or no.

do you already have a performance chip for the p13?

most folks just use the p28 or p72 for h-series engines (what i always use) since the editor can adjust fuel/timing tables for what will work.

p72 lack the resistor as well. what rom editing program are you going to use to program the p13, or do you know how to edit using the binary code? p13 are not very user friendly for chipping from what i understand.

The car is here at my shop and the customer bought a set off Ebay and wants me to put them on. I wanted him to just leave it alone but this is what he wants. The motor set came with the P13 but he doesn't want to buy a P28. I don't do any honda ECU tuning so I have no editing programs, just using the chips he provided.

if he decides to go with a p28/p72 let me know. i've dyno-tuned n/a and boosted accords/preludes and can get him taken care of it all else fails.
