Which step 2 hks cams??? 256, 264, 272???? Is this going to be for street or strip? Bottom mount stock location turbo or do youplan to do a topmount with an aftermarket manifold??? These are key questions that should be addressed when trying to determine what turbo you should run.

272 cams, top mount turbo with aftermarket manifold. More strip than street

The sc-61, turbonetics 62-1, or garrett gt35r are the most common setups with either a .63 t3 ar, or .58 t4 ar, or a .72 t4 ar are the most common for theat setup.

I think your about to waste alot of money on a setup you dont need. How much power do you want to make and what kind of engine management are you going to use to tune it.

In his list he has the emanage listed as a piggy back and from the isting of the 272 step 2's and the 740cc injectors it looks like he is shooting for the 450-550whp range.

Why would it be a waste of money?

I'm now thinking of going with either the AEM EMS or the Apexi Power FC which is best, and 850cc injectors.

AEM is a little more expensive but well worth the money for the control you get. Power FC has no where near the options of an EMS unit.

Get the e-manage ultimate.

im gonna say aem, the interface and tune ability is better than the pfc.

I wanted to know what size turbo should I use with this setup:

CP Pistons (9:0:1, 87mm)
HKS Piston Sleeves (87mm)
Eagle Rods
HKS Valve Springs
HKS Stage 2 Cams
HKS Adjustable Cam Sprockets
Crower Titanium Retainer kit
HKS Rocker Arm Stopper kit
HKS Fuel Rail kit
HKS Fuel Pump
Nismo 740cc Injectors
HKS 2.0 Metal Head Gasket
HKS Oil Cooler kit
Supertech Valves
Tomie Valve Guides
Greddy Intake Manifold
Q45 90mm throttle body
Z32 Mass Air Flow Sensor
Greddy Front Mount Intercooler kit
Splitfire DIS Coilpack kit
HKS Wastegate
Top Mount Exhaust Manifold
Greddy E-manage
Greddy Pulley kit
Nismo LSD
Exedy Clutch
One Piece Aluminum Driveshaft
Cusco 10.56 Flywheel
HKS CatBack Exhaust
well...we need HP goals to suggest a turbo....that's a basic engine build....a rather expensive one at that. I have a few questions about your selection of parts...first, what is an HKS 2.0 head gasket? that isn't a 2mm thick headgasket is it? If it is, what's the purpose of using 9.0:1 compression pistons? Sr's are 8.5:1 already...why would you lower it further. Are sleeves necessary for 87mm pistons?

It looks like you made this shopping list from a super street magazine...trust me, I'm not hatin, but you either are about to waste alot of money, or you have already. Why a cusco flywheel? Exedy sells lightweight flywheel/clutch assemblies (I have one in my s13; 6-puck with flywheel)...i mean, since you want an exedy clutch anyways.

HKS cat back? I'm guessing it's the hyper....I recommend Blitz Nur-spec....better sound/equal or better hp gains. HKS wastegate? Tials work fine, and are less expensive. And I'm guessing that top mount manifold would be a full-race $1000 manifold, huh?

Here's a suggestion...nix some of the racer-boy stuff and buy some less expensive counterparts (you're paying for name on alot of that stuff), and do some head work (polishing and porting) with some of that money you have saved....that would help make some usable power for whatever turbo you decide to use....my vote for a turbo goes to a TDO6-25G (mitsubishi turbo).

Just an example of feasable counterparts to your mega dollar parts...

HKS fuel pump-----walbro 255lph, or 300zxtt fuel pump

Cusco flywheel-----fidanza, exedy, jwt, jun flywheel

Greddy FMIC------ebay fmic kits...search, there are certain ones that work exceptionally well.

HKS fuel rail-----what's wrong with the stock fuel rail? I have 850cc injectors in mine.

z32 maf------your limit is 500rwhp...select the quickest spooling turbo that will get you there.

1 piece aluminum driveshaft-----you getting this for weight savings, right?

Now, If your gonna do a big money setup like that, you forgot an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, an oil catch can, koyo radiator and electric fan, sub frame bushings, blah,blah,blah......fact is, you can build a comparable setup with half the $$$ you're about to spend....but, if you got it to spend, spend away.....matter of fact, you can write me a check for doing research for you :D

I'm aiming for 550-600whp. And all the other parts that you mentioned are part of the build also I just forgot to mention them, and what other feasable counter parts do you suggest. And I'm not going to be using a mass air flow sensor now.

that was pretty much it...I mean, I was just trying to save you some money. I would go with the previous guy's reccomendations for a turbo, because he seems to have more experience with different turbos with sr20's than I do. I just like the mitsubishi turbos, they support alot of HP for their physical size. Everything else that I can think of is pretty much covered between mine and your list.

You should have a pretty mean car when it's all said and done. Good luck , and enjoy.

If your shooting for that much power, Ditch the cheap eagle rods and get some pauter or carrillos, or maybe olivers.

Most of the parts you have listed are nice parts but alot of them are uneccesary or, just plain overly expensive. I have a full race manifold, it looks like jewelry if you get it polished.

Good luck
Matt

yeah, for that HP level, you'll want to go the MAP/ standalone route...I have no idea which is best, because I have never used any (eventhough I have a power fc for an s14). I have similar goals (horsepower wise), but my main thing is to do it on a stock bottom end (and have it last). I'm shooting for 400rwhp on pumpgas, and 500+ on methanol and pump gas....haven't full decided on the turbo yet, but the precision pt61 looks to be the one, it's a full T4.

I also plan to have my ecu re-tuned to where the airflow values are halved.....so that I can run two z32 mafs, and not have to go standalone.....it'll get me past the 500rwhp barrier. This has already been pioneered by JWT on the 300zxtt...I had that setup (dual pop) on my 300zxtt, and it worked great, I don't see why it won't work on an sr.

I guess you can call my build a high HP budget build. I'm only using what I deem necessary to get to my goals reliably.
*850cc denso injectors
*z32 maf (x2 for later higher hp)
* tuned ecu
*255 walbro fuel pump
*greddy knockoff intake manifold
*SSA top mount T3/T4 manifold and 38mm wastegate
*3" turbo back exhaust
*FMiC
**272/272 Toda cams 10.5mm lift (still on backorder)
*electric radiator fan

everything with an * next to it is on the car now...chances are nothing else (power wise) will go on the car. The only thng I know I will change/add is the turbo, and I will add an alcohol injection kit.

Right now, I have an ssa bottom mount manifold on the car with a pulsar gtir t28 running....it makes 290rwhp and 258rwtq @ 15psi.....this turbo can be pushed to 18psi on 93 octane (I just never bothered to turn it up from where I had it when I ran my stock t25) the stock t25 made 237rwhp and 255rwtq @ 15psi.

The turbo I have right now is a T3/TO4E...57 trim, .50 a/r compressor and .63 a/r, stage III wheel turbine. I'm hoping to make ~350rwhp at the same 15psi with this turbo. I'm supposed to be putting it on this saturday, so I should have dyno numbers within a few weeks....then it's time for the pt61 (or whatever big turbo I finally get).
