This is great PR! No wonder they are failing

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Employees at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant in Dearborn, Mich., will have to drive Ford Motor Co. vehicles to work or park across the street, the plant manager announced earlier this week.

Fine I'd buy a Ford, as long as they don't bitch when I call and say I broke down on the way to work.

Seems isolated and not widespread.

Id rather push a ford than drive a Chevy/Honda/ etc etc lol

You can't tell your employees how to spend their money.

You can't tell your employees how to spend their money.

You sure can. They arent telling their workers to buy fords. They are telling them if they buy anything else then they can park across the street. Its an incentive program.

Perfectly Legal

The fords that I own have been the most reliable vehicles I have had.

Well I still think its rediculous, and makes them look desperate. Totally turns me off on every owning one. AND, making sure 2000 employees buy a Ford will not save the company. I'm all about supporting your company, but not forcefully.

The fords that I own have been the most reliable vehicles I have had.

They have increased their reliability to match or beat a lot of the foreign manufacturers. I won't argue that. What they should be focusing on is creating cars that are as attractive or more attractive then the foreign and other american competitors (exterior wise, quality looking interior materials, wheels, etc), and cost less. You have to be better than the competition to win.

I think the Fusion is a step in that direction. I know its the first ford I have owned that I truley love. The quality is great on the interior, exterior and even has some nice wheels :)

Ford reported losses (http://money.cnn.com/2006/01/23/news/companies/ford/index.htm) of $1.6 billion from its North American auto operations in 2005 and Monday announced plans to close 14 plants (http://money.cnn.com/2006/01/23/news/companies/ford_closings/index.htm) and cut 30,000 jobs as it tries to reverse losses and respond to declining U.S. market share.

You can't tell your employees how to spend their money. There was one employer firing [cigarette] smokers...and with the Ford thing, my brother works for Coke and and he can't be caught drinking Pepsi or any other carbonated soft drink.
