GA Tech Auto Show (http://www.gatechautoshow.com/)

The 3rd Annual Georgia Tech Auto Show will be held Saturday, April 1, 2006 on the Georgia Tech campus. Motor vehicles of all types owned by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and corporate sponsors of Georgia Tech will be on display. Classic antique cars, late model modified cars, 4x4 off road trucks, hot rods, cars modified with alternative power delivery (electric, fuel cell), daily-driven transportation, kit cars, race cars, concept cars, prototype cars, and all kinds of motorcycles are all encouraged to participate. Automobiles ranging from extremely rare classics in show condition to unfinished student-budget projects are welcome and appreciated. If the owner takes pride in the vehicle, it has a place in this show.

The show is open and free to the public for viewing the cars on display. Children are especially welcome, but please make sure that they are well supervised so that they do not touch any vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Prizes will be awarded to the best cars and motorcycles of various categories. Only cars and motorcycles owned by those directly affiliated with Georgia Tech will be eligible for judging and prizes. Those interested in participating who are not a Georgia Tech student, faculty, staff, or alumnus will be able to register a vehicle by invitation only. Original sculpture, and other art work, designed specifically for this show by Georgia Tech Industrial Design students will be awarded to the most popular vehicles in each category.

This show has been very well organized in the past. Tech makes sure to bring back a lot of it's engineers that created badass race cars and whatnot. Last year they had a prototype C6 Z06 and Ford GT along with several Ferraris and Lemans type prototype race cars. You have to be a student, faculty, or alumni to enter but if you dont go to the school you can contact the organizers and if they like your car they'll let you in. It only costs a small donation to Ga Tech Foundation, which helps to fund the various automotive clubs.

Yeah I will not be going... My car isn't good enough for that..

EDIT: I saw a Prelude (3rdgen) in that vid.. It gives me hope! It is a little after the middle after they show the 54 greenish car after they zoom down the row of cars... It is the 3rd gen with a carbon fiber hood... It is on the video on the Ga Tech site... It is right behind the guy that walks in front of the camera after they zoom into him.

heheh...I like this category

9) Student "Beaters"
Cars in this class must be registered to park on campus with a current Georgia Tech parking pass. Cars in this class will score higher with dents, rust, worn interiors, unpopular body styles, political opinions or music taste expressed in the form of worn bumper stickers or graphics. The intent of this class is not to encourage students to modify their cars for the show, but to reward the daily self-expression that is typically seen in campus parking lots. If you suspect that your car may be worth less than your parking pass, then this might be the special category for you.

The great thing about this show is that you can go for the cars or you can take a break from the cars and listen to some actual engineers and designers lecture about working in the industry.

Get a friend at Tech to register your car. I'd think that would be allowed. As far as invites, I'm not too sure how that works, you might want to try emailing them. I'll try to find out some more info.

It was pretty much in central campus. It was at the lot right across from SAC and behind the Ferst Theater.

It was a pretty good turnout, lots of solid cars.

Buncha pics here (http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5833)

There was a really good turnout this year. Ferrari brought an F40, Enzo, and classic GTO. Ferrari owners showed up with a couple of 328s and a 612 Scaglietti. Other highlights were some brand new Bentley, an authentic Shelby Daytona coupe, Pantera.
