i think it could be your steering gear ( depending if its rack and pinion ). i build these for european cars and theres alot that can go wrong , and when it does , theres no remedy except get a new one b/c you cant rebuild these in your driveway. GOOD news is depending on your particular vehicle , you can get new ones at autozone , ebay or the dealership. BAD news they can cost from $200-1000 dollars. hope this helps some.
