So the other night i was doing a few pulls with my car. We did about 11 pulls and were on par to make more power and on the 11th pull, at about 7000rpms, the car decides to shoot str8 to redline for no apprent reason.
I hit the brake on the dyno, and start to slow the car down, and i hear this *CLACKCLACKCLACKCLACKCLACK* noise. i thought to myself "this is it the motor has gone bye bye".
well it idled fine, and revved fine, but the noise was still there. So i figured my trans had an issue. thought it was just a broken CV axle at first, then i found out third gear was GONE.

I sheared EVERY tooth off the 3rd gear and the corresponding gear on the countershaft
this was a "perfect" tranny from HMO that i paid $1000 for. It drove great, but i noticed from the beginning that it had a VERY short 3rd gear. so someone either put a shitty brittle gear in it, or im just unlucky. Everything else survived, and thank god i have a spare tranny here with a good third gear in it. should be back together and on the dyno tonight. funny thing is i NEVER launched or abused this tranny. a few 3rd gear pulls and thats all.
