ITB's and Tuning?

I've heard its hard to tune individual throttle bodies, but can it be done for daily driving? Also, Ive heard there are air filter kits you can buy so they arent so exposed, where can I find this?

I was thinking of doing the ITB's they made on www.homemadeturbo.com but I would like to hear anyone elses opinions first.

twm induction sells ITB's www.twminduction.com. they do require a lot more tuning. it can be done for daily driving but I would recommend filters for the end of the throttle bodies. twm I think has filters for sale also. but they do make a box that covers the end of the inlets and an intake pipe is bolted to the box.

you can make a lot of power with these but it gonna be very expensive and a lot of tunning to get to run good on the street...good luck bro..

To really get the most benefit from ITB's you definately need to have a pretty good set up to begin with. On a stock engine with minor bolt ons Itb's will probably make 15-20whp max. The more you already have done then the more power they will make. Such as, good cams, good header, some headwork. Things of those nature will really bring out the best in the ITB's. It's all about flowing more air. Just because you are stuffing more air in with the ITB's you still have to have cams that have higher lift and longer duration and a head that can flow more air through the ports for it to really be efficient. ITBs make power everywhere. down low, midrpm, up top. you must choose a set to copliment your engine. dont get 54mm on a stock B16. Air filters kill the power, but for daily driving its kind of a must. or you can run a vacuum box over them. depends what the rest of your setup is. you would probably see more power from a good header, and cams, then ITBs on a semi stock motor.

Or, you can try a FULL RACE style manifold which is a ITB style manifold with veolicty stacks. a little cheaper.

for ITBs i prefer Jenvey from england. TWM makes nice stuff as well.

they are HARDER to tune, but not HARD to tune at all. dont let that scare you. withthe right software, which we have, its pretty easy to do
