.....interesting
We need a minimum of 12 participants for this to happen. As of right now we have about 8, including 3-5 full-fledged race cars that will be racing at Sebring in the following weeks. I would probably cap off the number of participants at about 16 or so. Depends on how heavy the responses are.
For payment, unfortunately I can't do it over the phone. This is because I am hosting this event personally. There are no big businesses involved. I pay the track from my personal account and then we go driving. Feel free to mail in a check or money order though. E-mail me for the mailing address.
NOTE TO PARTICIPANTS
If you are registering for this event, you can save 10% off any 2005 Rated G-FORCE Racing Gear Helmet!! Just put Talledega Track Day in the notes when placing your order!
Thanks to everyone for their interest! :)

Motorcycle has an MXXXX rating. M2000 and M2005 are the only accepted motorcycle helmets. Snell SA2000 and SA2005 are race helmets and are rated higher than motorcycle helmets. I personally have a SA2000 helmet. My head isnt something i want to cheap out on.

Ill actually be on the southside tonight man, but Saturday evening Ill be at the Medlock bridge meet , and im free in the afternoon as well. Ill give you a call to arrange something tonight or tommorrow. :) Damn, less than a month away! So it looks like its a definite this is a go? Is it going to turn into a large meet?
I've cut the limit at 17 even though I was just shooting for 16, so it'll be busy, but not too bad. There will be 3 cars on the track at a time, no aggressive passing, no timed laps, yada yada.
I just got a message from the track and they tried to increase their rates on me!! The manager seems understanding since we had worked this out previous. So as of now, this track day is still a definite. Future events will probably be more expensive though. :(

A note to everyone...
The track is being pretty douchey as they still want $2600 instead of $2000 for the track day. I'm fighting with them to come back down but I'm not sure how it's going to turn out. Are they going to be switching the direction we'll be running around lunch time so that we can get even wear on our tires?Uhhh...that's a good question. Shouldn't be a problem as long as we're all going in the same direction.
I just made an agreement with the track and the trackday is a GO!!! I have to admit, I was sweating it for a minute. Anyways, if you've paid me with a check, then your check is in my account now.
NO MORE REFUNDS UNLESS WE ARE RAINED OUT!!
If it sprinkles, then we will still drive. If it slams us with the waterfalls of God, then we will call it quits. Just letting you guys know. Also, 95 rated helmets will be acceptable at the track. That's a note for all you cheap@sses.
- We will open the gates at 8:00AM and in that time, you will sign various release forms, undergo a tech inspection, and then be there for a small debriefing about the days events.
- The first car will hit the track at roughly 9:00AM with each group of 3 cars driving near 20mins for each session.
- We will break for lunch at 1:00PM and resume driving at roughly 2:00PM. At this point, we will be driving in the opposite direction to try and balance tire wear.
If your tires are a little low, then I recommend bringing a second set. Seriously.
Remember, long pants and shoes. Make sure you car isn't leaking crap all over the place and double check all the necessary items. I look forward to seeing you guys out there. Thanks to everyone for your patience and support!

70% chance of rain right now. What is the cut off point. To tell you the truth, if it is raining I do not want to run my car. Should I put my spot up for sale?
thanks

Nate can you please call me ASAP please ! 770-656-7145
I just talked to the guy out at the track and he said the local weather folks over there are saying its a chance of showers on Saturday later in the afternoon. Plus he also said that you can only be refunded 50percent of the total cost. So either way I think we'll lose the money. Rain or shine Im gonna be there guys. Looks like if you wanna sell your spot , do it now.

AWD is not going to help too much with my near-bald Potenzas if there is standing water. If it's just raining and slick, I'll still run for sure.
If anyone is interested PM me, we'll be meeting at a shop around 5:00PM or so, then going to dinner around 6:00PM and leaving after that when traffic has died.
Chuck.

Hey guys, I just thought id say this, yeah it sucks its gonna rain but lets face it, we paid for this shit and we knew our money was non refundable. I talked with the track folks and it looks like if Nathan cancelled we'd only get 50 percent of our money back. Im sorry , but its not going to be a hurricane out there, and a little rain doesnt hurt much. Just dont drive like a jackass out there and you wont have any problems. We should all go anyways just to hang out.

Honestly guys, if you have tires with a bit of depth at least, you can learn alot from driving wet. It forces you to be very very smooth and take a good line. You'd be surprised how fast you can get in the rain if you run smooth.
Standing water is a different story. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Even though the weather now says 100% chance of rain between 5am and 4pm on Saturday we are going to do this?Sorry I've been out guys. I just sent out an e-mail note to everyone who gave me e-mail addresses. I've been watching the forecast all week for the area and I've seen it change like 40 times. The track day is still a go. The track owner says that they're expecting rain in the later evening so we should still be able to get in some solid runs. I'll be there despite the weather conditions so I look forward to seeing you guys out there. :)

Ahh quit yer belly achin. ;)
Hey where are all the pics???
Good times out there guys. I've coordinated with the track owner and there will be another open event for March 11th if anyone is interested. Hopefully we'll have some better weather. :)
Still, I'm glad that so many people made it out. I had a blast with you guys and I want to thank everyone for being responsible out there and not getting too out of hand (except for you Matt. Nice finale! ) I think that even with the light drizzle, we got in some track time and everybody learned how to handle their cars a little better. I hope to see you guys out there again in a couple of weeks. Hopefully in the sunshine!

Yah you know... gotta go out in style. Of the little video I got sure enough they got me sliding into the grass. I had a blast though. It was good meeting those I didn't already know. Hopefully I don't break my car at Turner Field next weekend and I can come back out on the 11th.
