2000 mercury cougar, My last system was 2 12's in a true L vented box push by a interfire amp that pushed about 250 to each sub and I hit a 148.6. This car is great for sound like that. American bass in 2002 i think hooked up a cougar with I'm not sure what but was hitting 170db just for a little info. lol

dizaaaammmmm. well i'm pretty new to car audio work. but i'd say get two amps. one for each box so one for 2 subs. first thought to my head would be the kicker 1200.1 i believe would be sufficient for each of those sets of subs. but like i said i'm not tooo knowledgeable. i think an amp able to push 1000watts at 2 ohm would work...i know a littleabout kicker, mtx, infinity, and most brands circuit city carries lol.

btw all the guru's don't flame me.. just beginning and throwing in my two cents. seeing if u guys would agree or disagree..

not really trying to spend that much on the whole system but I will look in to that amp. thanks is that 1000 peak or rms. If I go with two amps I'm looking for the amp to push about 600 to 700 at 2ohms rms so it can be split between the two subs and run them just under there rms rating. not to ware them out.

running the subs under rms by that much could cause them to blow. It's more often to underpower the subs and blow them, than to over power and blow them. hmm if u are wanting to underpower them this amp might do the trick. Wire in parallell for 2 ohm and get 900 watts, or wire to get 1 ohm and get 1200 power: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2424

you are going to get flamed for that comment. The only way your going to blow a sub by underpowering it is if you clip the signal to the woofer. Clipped signals blow subs, not underpowering them.

what are the coil imperdences for the subs? If they are dual 2 ohm or single 4 ohm, I would get something like a pair of these http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2425

if they are dual 4 ohm or single 2 ohm then this a pair of these will work well for you http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2424

if you only want to run 1 amp for the 4 subs and they are dual 4 ohm or single 2 ohm then here. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=220

Ah alright. When i was in training at Circuit City that's what they told me so i either understood it wrong, or they were wrong. Thanks for the correction. btw this sounds a little sarcastic, but i don't mean for it to be.

yea thats a good amp for the money. but remember nothing on ebay has anything more than an implied warrenty. They can find any excuse they want for not accepting it. Also I have heard some companies not repairing thier own equipment if it was bought online from an unauthorized dealer.
