Ok so this isn't a wonderful victory by no means, but I must share and you guys might get a kick out of it.


So I drive a 96 delsol(what was the give away) anyone.. I was recently hanging out at the team shop. We were just messing around talking cars as ussual. Well we see this nice 350z pull up. Sky blue, full kit, with 20" chromes. He just began reving the piss out of his car trying to show off. As he pulled into the parking lot he continued to rev his car all the way till he parked. He walked over and I guess knew someone that was their.(not apart of the team) Started talking smack, eww I have a new exhaust and header, blah. Well I asked him too see it in action. He laughed and asked me against what. I told him and he laughed again. Common reaction to a honda i know i know. OH WAIT, keep in mind this kid is 16 years old, given the car for Christmas and his license plate says puddin'.

We all left and desided to head to get something to eat, he was going to tag along. We got on the highway and he seemed to pase me at 70 in 3rd reving the piss out of it. I was in the 5th the whole time looking at him like he is crazy. So finally I exit and ask him to race from a stop. His friend flagged us and I had to put him in his place.

Ate him out of the whole and stayed ahead the whole way, car and half I must say.

no, b16 swapped EG wouldnt beat a well driven 350z.

your typical driver (ham fisting into 2nd gear with an not so good hole shot.. say 2.1-2.2 60's at the right track) run 14.0-14.2 @ 100mph this is what most magazine drivers run.

the fastest stock z33 ran 13.5 @ 104mph i beleive. my friend Warren ran a 13.6 @104 completely stock at Steele i beleive. he might be on the boards, Windsor knows him.

fastest Commerce Twin turbo 350z (street tires.. stock potenza re040 at that) is Popa350z's i think. 12.9 @ 115mph.

The cracks about the tach and stickers are common when posting in this area, especially when you title it "DELSLOW" and get people thinking your stock or slightly modded. yeah Stg 2 maps from cobb, 301awhp 317awtq. (probably a little more than that now, it was a slightly diff map, in hot temp ie: 80 degrees) when the car was dynoed. it is untunned running very rich.

the 06 STi i havent driven, alex has a 06 wrx not sti, but few here and there say they favor the 04's aftermarket and lack of unnecessary knock sensoring

the 06 wrx's arent equipped with the EJ20 any longer either, its an ej25 with the same turbocharger/intercooler/and intake manifold of the EJ20, however.. the difference in displacement gives the 06 WRX a dozen or more lb ft of torque than the previous EJ20 equipped WRX's. as far as motor stoutness (if thats even a word) i have no idea how this EJ25 will pair up against the EJ20.. the EJ20 was a slightly stronger motor than the STi ej25, and something tells me the new WRX EJ25 is not going to be as strong as the EJ20 was.. who knows, ill look into it

lol Nothing like it, this is my first AWD car and I'm hooked now. One question, your 1-2 shift do you have to feather the clutch a little to get it to engage smoothly? If I dont it feels like the car just bogs for a quick second.. also launching is a lot harder than I thought, I havent completely tried to figure it out but from what I have experienced its a lot more complex than just revving it up and dropping the clutch.

i kinda granny shifted it before when i was making stockish power (the rear end would go "clunk" and some boggin existed, now i can kinda grab 2nd hard and the car barks no more bogging or clunks.

awd launches take alot of practices. try this.. study where your clutch catches and have it memorized..

once you got that down.. pump the throttle, rev up and down keeping it between 5500-6500 rpm and start feathering out to the point of catch, the car should start moving right before it catches completely, as soon as the car starts moving dump completely (you should pretty much be right at catching point at that point)

check out the bay area racing vid in the forums, in the mid of vid there is a nice example of how the revving/launching should be done in an STi.

the only thing in the Z's ball park would be the H22 or b18c5 swapped EG's (i guess not necessarily EG's.. but could be a honda within that weight) with bolt ons.

i've been beaten by one h22 honda EG, I/H/E uberdata tuned, stripped/gutted interior. from 40kick to about 100mph by 1 to 2 carlead.. (40mph in 2nd is bad for the Z). from 50 or 60 -120mph i had a half a car lead and pulling.

Donno bout all that. I was like neck and neck with a 350z till like 110 from 20mph in my EK wit a B16a 170hp and a exhaust, intake mani and Chipped P28 ecu. Not to mention the many Wrx's, Rx8 and S200 I hung with or beat from a roll. so I said all that to say this.... I depends on the driver and circumstance.:2cents:

i'm trying not to dump the clutch, and just slip it at 5000rpm launch. last time i dynoed at 291hp-334tq, best pass was 13.4@102 at commerce. i know i am slow to shift, and i am trying to stretch out 4th to much.

i wanted to data log last time, but i blew a fuse to the lighter. only got 3 passes last time, so i really just need so mre pratice. i'm trying to talk myself out of the next step, 20g, injectors, big tmic and meth.
