Tires fading to quickly?

So I got my car brand new about 18 months ago, 2004 honda accord coupe lx 4 cyl. When I got it it had 4 bridgestone turanza tires on it. About 6500-7000 miles later the fronts were pretty much bald, so i bought 2 new toyo tires for the front, as the back 2 bridgestones were pretty much fine. Now im at 17k miles, so about 10k miles past the last tire change, and i had a tire rotation about 3k miles ago i think. Anyway the toyos went to the back and the bridgestones went to the front. Now the bridgestones are getting close to bald, id say probably like 25% or so left, and the toyos in the back are showing alot of wear as well. I figured these tires would last me atleast 20k miles if not more. My driving isnt really abusive at all, a bit spirited but thats about it. Never burn out, cant the car doesnt have any power lolol, and I dont do anything like auto-x or something similar. Anyone know what could be wrong to have them wear out so quickly?

you might need an alignment...I talk to alot of ppl on www.v6performance.net and they say the stock tires sux!!

I picked out some new tires for my gfs 03 accord...check out the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 they also dont cost an arm and a leg!!! good deal for some good tires...check out www.tirerack.com for a review on them

im not sure how long they are lasting...but i remember reading something about how they grip like crap and dont last long...

Yes- I can tell you from experience that its not uncommon for people to have to replace their OE tires not long after they buy their cars new. What is the treadwear rating? I know the tires that Honda used to put on S2ks were the Bstone Potenza S02's, and although I have not really experienced a tire that performs better, the treadwear rating was like 140. Meaning that one could very possibly go through a set of rears before one's car even passes 10k miles. If I were you- check the treadwear rating out.

also if the regular tire rotation intervals (every 5000 miles) are not followed will also cause abnormal wear....get your alignment checked out also :goodjob:

Sometimes they do it in 7k or 8k, sometimes more than that. If tires are left in the same position for too long, and people want them rotated, sometimes the results are bad. Feathering happens, and cupping, and the evidence of that is vibration. At least you can rotate your tires in an Accord....

Sometimes they do it in 7k or 8k, sometimes more than that. If tires are left in the same position for too long, and people want them rotated, sometimes the results are bad. At least you can rotate your tires in an Accord....Yea tires have got to suck on a s2k, no rotation and high performance = expensive. Do you work at a tire place by any chance?

factory tires are dipped ina chemical that softens them to help them ride better and have minimal road noise.. the higher the tread wear the longer the tire life. I personally recommend the Falken Ziex Ze 512 they are cheap and last forever (360 rating)

cause I used to work for firestone and I can tell you those tires are crap period.
think of them like continental tires for cars
most of them are hard, choppy, loud tires but
It all depends on which ones you have.
I think the milage warranty on those should be around 80,000 miles
for the LS-T

-Toyo Proxes TPT (some people love'em...some people hate'em...i like'em...65K)
-Michelin MXV4 (expensive and doesn't come with a tread wear warranty...but they're Michelins)
-Pirelli P6 4 Seasons (not as expensive as the Michelins...handles great...doesn't come with a tread wear warranty...but i love Pirellis)

Look on tirerack.com and buy what they rate high and the tread you want. Different tires tend to last different amounts of time. Price doesn't always mean quality either. Can't go wrong with Kumho's and you could always get some G-Sport tires, I've head great reviews for them. But buy from tirerack.com they kill everyone else's prices.

Well on a purely spur of the moment thing a couple of days ago i stopped by tires plus, and the guy was damn good, he got me sold. I ended up getting 4 bridgestone potenzas g009s, mounting, balancing, installation, road hazard, and an oil change for $420. Not to bad i'd say, especially cause the road hazard program seems really good.
