mumbles has his smoked out (painted), and my friend has his taillights smoked, I dont think they had any problems. My friend has had his for about 3 years and no tickets yet. But when you say tint, do you mean like using window tint?

I don't believe it is illegal, but if you go too dark your a dumbass. no1 can see your brake lights. Those GTO covers are stupid and dangerous.

r71 does a lot of them for customers. No one has had problems in the past 5 years, but I'm not sure how they fit in "legally". My RX7 has "black" taillights from the factory, so I doubt that there is in any law banning it.

get them professionally done...this is my second set that I just got done a few months ago after a minor rear-ending...I can give you the number of the shop that did them for me...don't do the Nite Shades thing...it will look dull...it is very hard to buff them out and get a clear shiny look with that stuff...I have been stopped twice and never been hasslled by the cops for them...http://207.218.208.2/~seuatl/forums/files/dscf0731.jpg

Got vinyl on mine (Black cherry tc), looks good, almost has a color matched look at night. I didn't want to paint them until I've decided I wanted the look perminent (painted). I know the Vinyl will probably lighten up within the next two years, but I like the look for now. Go ahead and "git-r-done" (PROFESSIONALLY PAINTED)

Not our vinyl. It's a 5-year outdoor Oracal film. And the only thing that happens to it after 5 years is it becomes a bit less flexible. And this does not matter for tail lights. So you'll be just fine for a long long time ;)

I've done quite a few with nightshades and they all hold up and look great. I do clear coat them though and they come out looking the same as the pics everyone's posted. I've had lights painted by our painter and I can hardly tell the difference between his and mine except he charges more.

so were can i find this shit!!!!!!

If you want Nightshades stop being ignorant and do a search on the internet. If you need a tutorial on that then go take a class because I don't have time to hold your hand and walk you through the simple steps of not being retarded.

Not that I've found. Summit is where I've ordered it from and in a few weeks their new warehouse should be open and you can pick it up there.

NOOO summit. Go ebay. Much cheaper. Off summit their cans are 12.99 a can plus like 7 bucks shipping plus 20 bucks for "dangerous chemicals" shipping fees. I got 2 cans off ebay for 25 shipped to my house.

Darling Nikki

COGCaviZ24
03-06-2006, 07:58 PM
you can do the nightshades stuff, but i highly recommend clear cloating them!! i've done a few sets nightshade/clear and they good
ORGANIZATIONXIII
03-06-2006, 09:44 PM
100 bucks ain't bad.. depends on the size of the tail light itself?
Darling Nikki
03-07-2006, 05:40 PM
Na. I doubt it. Just call up there....
Jimmy B
03-07-2006, 05:48 PM
it cost me about $8.96...
Minnoe07
03-07-2006, 07:38 PM
It cost me about $30 in supplies ($23 for 1 can of nite shade, $5 for clearcoat, $2 for polishing compound). I bought a orbital buffer and about 2.5 hours of total work.
Nite shade works great IF you do it right and polish it after you clearcoat it. It will look even better if you wet sand in between each coat but it is not neccesary unless you are a perfectionist. This will also take longer of course.
Here are my pics with nite shade.
Doesn't look like crap to me. :goodjob:
And with nite shade, YOU determine how light or dark you want it. With somebody else doing it, you can tell them how dark or light you want it, but once they go too dark, it's hard to go back.

i had my beama blacked out and drove in front of cops a shit load of times....neva got pulle dover or anything
its usually out in the middle of no where that you catch shit for it. a friend of mine has his tails on his celica smoked out w/ nightshade and has never been pulled over for it in gwinnett. then he goes through loganville and gets pulled over and warned about them.
