use winamp with the ipod plugin. it lets you copy from your iPod to your hard drive. you can get the plugin from here:

i think if you uncheck the box, then do a upload or something like that, it takes it off, i was talking to someone about it, but they didnt sound to sure. Im about to play with it right now.

With iTunes just delete the file that you want to remove while viewing your iPod's files. Its not Rocket Surgery! ;)
