So, I know there's some of you wondering how Georgia State is.

They suck

I've been screwed over by State 3 times already. So yes, this is going to be a pretty long rant about how shitty Georgia State is, and why I want to transfer out.

Spring semester '05 was my second semester at State. Toward the end of the semester, i get a letter in the mail from GSU, telling me that i owe them $2,000 :eek:. WTF? I thought to myself," Um wtf? Why the hell do i owe the school $2,000 when i have HOPE?" So i call and they tell me i haven't paid my tuition. I tell the lady on the phone that i have HOPE, and she said that it hasn't gone through. So i had to drive all the way down to State, talk to someone in the financial aid office, and she tells me,"O we forgot to hit the pay button on your HOPE." :rant: :2up:And then i have to pay $37 for my HOPE to go through and process :dunno::wtf:. Since when do you have to pay for your HOPE to go through? :rant:

Then, fall of '06 comes by (this past semester). And i go to class the first day, only to find out that ALL of my classes have been dropped, and i didn't know about! So once again, i make a trip to the financial aid office to find out what happened this time. The line is HUUUUGE!!! Well, after talking to some other students there, i find out that it happened to 5,000 other students as well. Our HOPE didn't process, AGAIN. WTF?! So i finally get to talk to some dude at financial aid, and he tells me to just fill out the HOPE form again, and hope that it goes through in time :eek::rly::wtf:. I have to hope that my HOPE goes through?! :2up: Then, finally i get to talk to another lady and she tells me the same as before. She makes a phone call to "someone upstairs" and says,"O ok, he has a 3.8? Ok." Clicky pow, my HOPE goes through. :rant: I almost didn't get to go to class this semester b/c of that shit. Their admissions sucks.

Then, yes they screwed me over one more time, on friday, i checked my final grades. I dropped a class this semester b/c i didn't want to take it, MICROeconomics. So as i'm looking through final grades, i see a WF. I thought to myself, "Hmmm a WF? O shit!! WTF?!! A WF? That's a Withdrawal Fail!!! What the hell?!" Yea the son of a bitches gave me a withdrawal fail after i had withdrew from the class the correct way. The deadline to withdraw was October 15, and i withdrew like October 10th because i knew there was no way of me passing. So i talk to the professor of how do I withdraw, and she told me just to go online to GOSOLAR and do it there. I then proceed to make sure of that and talk to an advisor and they tell me the same thing, just do it online. I ask her if i have to fill out any paper work and she tells me no. So i go home that same day and withdraw from the class. It said withdraw next to the class and then when i pulled up my weekly schedule, the class was not on there. So i was pretty damn sure of myself that i had withdrew from my class properly, then i see that WF?! :2up::2up::2up:

So my GPA for the semester was a 2.0. :rant::rant::rant: WTF?! Luckily my GPA had been high enough to take a hit like that or i would of not kept my HOPE b/c my 30 hours were up. My GPA dropped from a 3.8 to a 3.2 :eek:. Now, once again, i have to go talk to them and find out what the hell happened and how it can be fixed :2up:

So, in conclusion, FUCK YOU GSU, thanks for fucking me over, and over and over. And i know i'm not the only one to be fucked over. I have plenty of more stories from friends that have been fucked over by state. Like a girl i knew that registered for classes, then decided she wasnt going this semester and dropped her classes before the semester even started, and still got a WF for all 5 of the classes that she never even took, and lost her HOPE. Or the girl that was in line with me that told me she was a senior and that she had this happen to her every year she has been there.

Sorry for this big ole long story, but this is just the reason why i want to transfer out, and go to KSU or something. Hope you guys learn something from this :D

i know exactly how you feel. they screwed me over more than twice with my HOPE and then when I call to figure out the problem they put me through different lines and then it just magically disconnects itself.

I never had a problem with HOPE b/c I lost it after second semester.

mine is like the second or third post, read it. my advise to you is transfer out while you can, cause they will trap you and keep you down for as long as possible. i went on academic improvement after my first year(through behavior that was mostly my fault, i got some bad advise from the counslers but thats besides the point). anyways, 3yrs and 4 couslers(they all quit, cause they hated the school too) later i was literally one 3hr class from transfering. well they changed the rules to say that students on the improvement program had to have over a 2.5 or 2.6 gpa for the semester or they would be kicked out. well i got a 2.4, which was enough to bring my over all gpa above a 2.0 but didnt meet the 2.5 standard that is "better for everyone". so they de x me, which means nrth ga wont touch me cause gsu says im bad(on a side note, of the people who went on academic improvement the semester i did, i was the only one left at that point so it really didnt help anyone). so i spend a month fighting with gsu over this bullshit and they finally revoke my exclusion, but say i need to go to gsu for another semester and meet the improvement requirements before they would say i was in good standing. which ment i would have go to the school this last fall and wouldnt be able to go to nrth ga till summer semester at the earliest. so one more semester of driving downtown, paying for parking, paying a $60+ fuel bill, getting hastled by fat bums(seriuosly how does a bum get fat?), my gym card not working(it hadnt worked for 2yrs), the professors giving me shit cause im not a liberal, the administration giving me shit cause im a white guy, having to date ugly chicks(my standards had gone down so far its not even funny), you see where im going with this? so i took my transcripts and i left(i paid a bum $20 to shit in the stairwell of sparks hall before i did though). i took my shit to gainesville college, i'll spend a year there, and i go to nrth ga in summer and graduate(with 2 full degrees i might add) next christmas. this is not the best part, its not even close. one day in october this last semester i was sitting in the grass(that green shit that grows outside), with a good looking girl(i only dated 1 good looking girl in 4yrs at gsu), and i could see my car in the parking lot(i didnt have to pay for the parking spot and i didnt have to worry about someone stealing my car). transfer while you still can, gainesville, nrth ga, kennesaw, west gerorgia, berry, bernau, what ever, just get out.

sorry for the long post but i feel very strongly about it, 4yrs is a long time to waste.

1)Idiots forgot to hit the "PAY" button for my HOPE to go through spring '05
2)Idiots drop my all my classes the weekend before fall '05, as well as 5,000 other students, telling us that our HOPE didn't process and that we should fill out a new HOPE app. and hope it goes through :wtf:
3)I withdrew from a class before the end of the withdrawal period, only to find out this past Friday that i got a WF for the class. :wtf::rant::2up:. I talked to the professor and the advisor on the process of withdrawing, and they both told me online. So I did, and i still got a WF. My GPA dropped, but luckily not low enough to lose HOPE

Luckily i haven't had any problems with gsu so far, knock on wood, but then again i've only been there one semester. But i also do plan on transferring somewhere eventually, i hate driving to marta and then going downtown fucking takes like 2 hours, the environment there sucks ass, and very few if any good looking chicks. And like you my standards went down as well lolol. I want to transfer to uga but i have to wait till the end of fall semester 06 to even apply to anywhere like uga or whatnot cause you need 30 credits already done, or so thats what it is for uga.
